In previous years, tickets were sold out quick.

I'm guessing the high cost (for decent seats will be $300 per pair), along with it being the Thanksgiving weekend (people might be going out of town, spending it with family etc.) and also the uncertainty of start times.

Plus ALDS Game 3 and 4, could be elimination games. If the Jays came back to Toronto down 2-0, those seats for Game 3 aren't worth as much and doubt they're would be much excitement for that game from casual fans.

Thanksgiving plus the cheapest in the 500 level is $75 will greatly affect the pace at which tickets sell. I am a diehard Jays fan and can not do WC2 and 3 due to Thanksgiving with family. I do remember in 2016 , the floor on tickets price crashed with them down 0-2, 0-3. stubhub for game 4 was dirt cheap, I for a 500 level ticket for $25.

And yes you are right about prices cratering after going down 0-2. I had a hard time even breaking even that year

Yeah I was surprised to see how expensive it was for 500 level seats. $75 each + taxes/fees. Better to watch the games from home. 200 level or 100 level, while more expensive, are far better value.

I remember in 2015 and 2016, tickets for the ALDS and ALCS were much cheaper on StubHub the same day of the game, lower prices than the box office. A lot of it was because either the team was losing already in the series and because of start times. The 2016 AL Wildcard game was really the only Postseason game that tickets had higher prices. If the Jays make the ALDS and come back down 2-0, Game 3 and 4 will be far cheaper than the Blue Jays prices currently. That's why I didn't go all crazy this year. Figured it won't be that difficult to get ALDS tickets if I wanted to go to Game 3 or 4.

How about if the jays come back 2-0 from the road like in 2016 tho. Big tickets

Yeah they'll likely hold their value but they won't be crazy expensive on StubHub. I went to Game 3 of the ALDS in 2016 and I recall tickets weren't that crazy. Even for a night game.

World Series will be big tickets or a Game 6 or 7 of the ALCS.

Don't they do 2-3-2? They'll be on the road.

Its possible Jays could get home field advantage in the ALCS and/or WS if they have a better record than the team they face. Entirely possible.

I know, but I'll roll with us facing the Yankees.

Tickets starting to go for below face value on Stubhub in case anyone wanted to grab some last minute today.

Toronto is a f***ing joke sometimes, shameful.

Meh it's probably the 4PM start time on a Friday. If the Jays win today, tomorrows game likely will be the more popular since its a Saturday 4PM start.

Also, its the Thanksgiving weekend and usually this is the last weekend the cottagers go up north to close down their homes before the winter haha. So some people might be heading out of town.

Lastly, I'll even admit for the Wildcard Series, tickets were pretty pricey. Like my seats for Sec 235 cost me $310. Imagine doing that for all three games, that's just 1K on tickets! I find Toronto teams gauge their fanbase when the Playoffs start. Prices are ridiculous. Even as a Raptors season seat holder, playoff tickets are ridiculous and that's why I opted out of Playoff tickets for last season because usually before game time, tickets are cheaper on StubHub than even what I pay with my season seat membership price.

Scalpers can go to hell

While scalpers still exist selling tickets for concerts and sporting events both in front of the venue and online, most of the resale tickets on Ticketmaster or StubHub are actually done by the fans or season seat holders haha.

I actually thought my seats for Game 2 on Saturday were reasonably priced. Section 207, Row 3 for $117 (incl. fees and taxes). I hate the whole scalper/resale world. Such a slimy way to make money.

Yeah 200 level outfield and corners were probably the best value in comparison to the 500 Level and 100 Level. How much are those seats usually during the regular season though? I just find Toronto teams go crazy when it comes to Playoff pricing. They jack up the price so much even if it's just the first round. I understand if its the NBA Finals, World Series, or Stanley Cup Finals.

Most of the resale tickets online are done by season seat holders. As a season seat holder myself for some other teams, I can't go to every game so I need to sell them online if I can't sell them to any friends or family. If its a game in high demand, I'll price my tickets for what other similar tickets are going for and if I get that price, great! If not, I'll keep lowering my price until they sell. Even sometimes I've had to take a loss on some tickets/games, so that's why if I could make up with a more high demand game, you have to do it.

I don't like when scalpers go online and just snag as many seats as they can for popular events. Ticketmaster needs to do a better job preventing that.

As for Ticketmaster, they're as guilty as scalpers. All they care about is making money. They love the resale market. They make money from the purchaser through fees when they buy the tickets online first through their site. If that purchaser decides to resell them online, Ticketmaster takes a cut from them. If someone buys those resale tickets, Ticketmaster also makes money from the new purchaser as well. Ticketmaster and StubHub have pretty much replaced the common scalper. For them, if scalpers snag a bunch of tickets to an event and resell them on their platform, they're the ones gaining and don't care.

I think the 200 level corners were like $62 (incl. fees and taxes) during the regular season.

That's a 90% markup from the regular season which is crazy. How much were your ALDS seats if you don't mind me asking?

Oh yeah they’re gonna get f***ed this time around. I have a friend of a friend that bought 2k worth of tix to sell… he’s gonna be in s***

Still though… its the f***ing playoffs. I thought people cared more

Same price I think. I didn't have an issue with those prices personally. I know I paid a f***ton more to go to games in 2015 and 2016 and having been to several Blue Jay playoff games, I think the experience is worth every penny.

Yup these are still the cheapest face value playoff tickets you’ll find in any major sport

This city is weird when it comes to the Playoffs. I even see it with the Raptors Playoff home games. Any team that isn't the Leafs.

If the Jays make it deep into the Postseason and to the World Series, more casuals will definitely care and want to go to a game. Was the same with the Raptors when the made the NBA Finals. I remember Round 1, 2 and 3, it was cheaper to purchase tickets off StubHub/Ticketmaster before the game. Only for Game 6 in the Eastern Conference Finals and the NBA Finals, tickets were crazy expensive because there was more demand. I had my phone ringing asking me for tickets. But for Round 1, 2 and the beginning of R3, was lucky to just break even on the tickets I needed to sell.

I couldn't even get face value for Game 7 in R2 against the 76ers, so decided to go down to the game last minute with my dad. Glad we did since it was probably the best and most memorable game in Raptors history!

As long as they win haha. The first two games of the ALDS against Texas in 2015 were tough ones to swallow haha.

Though yeah the experience is definitely worth it. Getting to experience Game 5 in the ALDS of that year was surreal.

Compared to MLSE for sure. I think other MLB teams have cheaper Postseason face value tickets, depends on the city.

Even still, like I said if I purchased the exact same seats for all 3 Wildcard games, would cost me close to 1K for a pair. That doesn't include food & drink costs, transportation costs etc. Easily could drop close to $1500 this weekend attending every game if you went out before/after the game for some lunch/dinner and drinks or even spending at the ballpark. Given today's high inflation, I think people might just be watching their spending more.

Wow that’s a joke. Great game to go to. Yeah I remember in 2015, I sold a pair of tix to ALDS game 5 (batlflip game) for 500$. Then in the ALCS they went down 0-2 on the road and I couldn’t even sell anything for face value, ended up giving some to friends.

I had 4 extra tix today that I ended offloading for face value to a friend of a friend. Can’t believe they wouldn’t sell even at facevalue on stubhub…

Are Jays tickets bought on Ticketmaster resalable? I bought a number of games during the presale but they show as not being available for resale on Ticketmaster. Does this change on a certain date? A subscriber with very good seats, much better than my seats, has offered me seats to games this year and I would like to get rid of mine at cost to be able to buy the better subscriber seats.
