minor league deals never bother me but for some reason this feels gross

He is a long long shot but i don't see anything wrong with AAA Fodder that we will never likely see.

This is a very solid signing. He should be starting in LF for the Jays this season. Wow...Shartkins is killing it this offseason.

Over reaction much?

how so? This f***er broke a perfect game by leaning into a pitch when his team was down 6-0 with 2 outs in the 9th. Dick move by all accounts.

Maybe he didn't want a pitcher to pitch a perfect game against his team? That's pretty embarrassing. Good job breaking it up and getting on base.

I'm not one to endorse unwritten rules as I think a majority of them are idiotic but come on, there has to be some kind of honor system. When Schilling lost his perfect game to a bunt I had absolutely no issues with it as

a) it was a 1 run game and

B) a bunt is still hard as f*** to execute properly at the ML level.

What skill did Tabata display here outside of nursing a bruised elbow for a couple days? I would be pissed off as a pitcher at any point in the game if a guy leaned in as hard as he did, let alone in the bottom of the 9th with a perfect game on the line. It's just a scumbag move...

You know that hitting against Max Scherzer is really hard right? As a hitter against that caliber of pitching, in the midst of a pretty embarrassing display from your team, you'll do what you can get. Sure it's a bit dickish, but supposedly there are rules against leaning in on a pitch, so that's up the the umpire to make the right call, not the player trying the gain the slightest of advantages.

It's a call umpires almost never make, I don't even remember the last time that happened in a Jays game. I suppose everyone has their own moral compass, I personally would take one for the team if the ball was thrown at me but there's no way in hell I'd lean into a pitch. Work a count for a walk, get a f***ing hit, bunt, do whatever you can but leaning in is bush league, especially considering the scoreline. And is a no hitter really that much less embarrassing than a perfect game?

It was a total dick play but saying that it's not like you really have time to ponder and think "oh, I'm going to be a huge douchebag and ruin this amazing career moment for Max by dropping my elbow" instincts takes over and you have a split second to react.

I feel like anyone who leans into a pitch is a huge douche. Brandon Guyer for example is insufferable.

I would do anything I could to try to get on base in that situation. I wouldn't want to be a footnote in a perfect game. Or watch players rush the field as I walk back to the dugout.

It wouldn't bother me. If I was the pitcher I would be upset at the situation but not the player.

Do you remember any specific hitter in any perfect game ever? All people remember is the dominance of the pitcher for said game; nobody cares who batted.

Also his reaction after:

Total douche move

So he pointed where he got hit to make the umpire aware of the situation...yeah he's the devil that one.
