baseballsss Verified Member Posted January 24, 2019 Posted January 24, 2019 I wasn't joking I have dumps bigger than Cooperstown. It’s still a pretty big let down to every kid that grew up watching Halladay pitch for crap Jays teams. He was the one thing we could cheer about. Yah he’s still going into the Hall but he should be a Jay not just a “baseball player.”
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted January 24, 2019 Posted January 24, 2019 tbh, i'm going to forget about this whole thing pretty quickly
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted January 24, 2019 Posted January 24, 2019 Everyone who visits the hall should bring Jays stickers and just put one on his hat every time they walk past...
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted January 24, 2019 Posted January 24, 2019 Everyone who visits the hall should bring Jays stickers and just put one on his hat every time they walk past... I'm going this July, at the risk of me getting kicked out I'll volunteer.
wilko Old-Timey Member Posted January 24, 2019 Posted January 24, 2019 f*** Brandy, f*** the kids. She should have been carted off the stage with a firm shoulder grab and later slapped in the face.
CanuckofChicago Verified Member Posted January 25, 2019 Posted January 25, 2019 Did you get a hotel already? We're looking at a campsite with RVs and bringing the wife's car with us, because no rooms are available. Coming in from Chicago. Looking forward to it.

I was planning on going, but just seems too crazy on the Sunday. I'll stream it online and watch it at the cottage.

I weighed it with all the other options and it was the cheapest.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2019 Posted January 25, 2019 I'd go to the HoF ceremony if any Jays players were getting inducted but alas, not interested in seeing a Yankee, a Yank/Oriole hybrid, a Mariner, or a professional baseball player get in.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2019 Posted January 25, 2019 Mussina going into the Hall with no logo on his hat. I really hope this does not start a trend now because part of the appeal of going into the hall is seeing players with team recognition. I know moose played pretty much equal seasons with the O's/Yanks but you should be able to pick a team. Now i can see a lot more players doing this now and I don't like it.

It's a really dumb decision. I agree on this point here. IMO should've went in as an Oriole. Either way both franchises have a bunch of players representing them in the Hall, one player isn't so much a loss. Still makes more sense than Halladay's situation, 12 seasons as a Jay = 4 as a Phillie apparently.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2019 Posted January 25, 2019 Mussina makes plenty of sense to go neutral to me. 10 seasons vs. 8 but he made the postseason 7 times with the Yanks and only 2 with the Orioles. The Yanks are a big draw too (unlike the shitbag Phillies lol), I could see the temptation to even go Yanks. I think no logo for him makes complete sense.

He made the hall on the back of his Orioles career, though. He played his best for them, by far.

I can't say for one second I thought to myself - I wonder how many Cardinals are in here. I would obviously have liked to see Doc represent the Jays (and I do have a problem with it if Brandy is going against his wishes), but frankly I'm a little over it and I'm not for a second going to question Mussina. I don't see what all the fuss is about. Seems like something Goose Gossage would get mad over.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted January 26, 2019 Posted January 26, 2019 Mussina chose to go in neutral. Halladay wanted to go in as a Blue Jay, died, and then his wife decided that he would go in neutral. That's the difference. If Roy wanted to go in without repping a team, it wouldn't be an issue. At least to me.

Yeah I was strongly considering going since I've never been to Cooperstown before and seeing Doc being inducted as a Blue Jay would have been special, but him going in neutral, I'm just not that crazy about going anymore.
Eddiek19 Verified Member Posted January 28, 2019 Posted January 28, 2019 I plan on going to see Doc inducted and see no difference on whether or not he goes in as a Jay or not. It does not change the pitcher he was for the Jays, nor the memories I have of him as a Jay.
