They think its a fantasy or something, lets just up payroll to $300 mill US and acquire studs.

Horses Fart Old-Timey Member Posted August 21, 2017 Posted August 21, 2017 Going to the Jays game on sept the 4th and I was just wondering if anybody here would have an idea as to who could be pitching? I know it a couple weeks out but we have some geniuses here. Lol. TIA.

Likely poop or the Stroshow on the 4th.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 22, 2017 Posted August 22, 2017 Yesterday's game was the most frustrating loss of the season. I wish Raffy Lopez would get DFA'd. Couldn't block the ball which is bad enough but not throwing to first was inexcusable. When is Martin expected back?
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 22, 2017 Posted August 22, 2017 When is Martin expected back? He isn't, at this point.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 22, 2017 Posted August 22, 2017 I apologize if this has been posted already. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/justin-smoak-explains-his-own-breakout/
tazsub3 Verified Member Posted August 22, 2017 Posted August 22, 2017 With all the injurues, and bad play and mistakes, this team was still a 2016 osuna away from being in the wild card... Sad really.... Now we add sanchez at being avg, and we are there for the 1st WC
Rusty_Savage Verified Member Posted August 22, 2017 Posted August 22, 2017 Did anyone know that Carson Cistulli and Dave Cameron do a Blue Jays podcast? True story. What's it called?
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted August 22, 2017 Posted August 22, 2017 What's it called? Pitch Talks Toronto Blue Jays Podcast, or something like that.

Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted August 28, 2017 Posted August 28, 2017 Aoki DFA Campos recalled End of an era Good move, creates space for Teoscar and/or Alford to get some playing time in September. We were never going to go to arbitration with Aoki.

Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted August 30, 2017 Posted August 30, 2017 Same for Estrada who was claimed by the Yankees.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 Travis suffers a setback, absolute shocker. They can't possibly count on him to be an everyday 2B again. He's been injured all three seasons with the jays, and i think he was hurt in the minors for Detroit also. Dude is not reliable. Either get a utility infielder who can be expected to be a 1-2 war player over a season, or move on from Travis as an everyday player (or maybe move him somewhere where he only misses 40 games a year instead of 80). It sucks because he's really good when healthy and being injured all the time is not his fault (the body works in mysterious ways), but gotta be realistic.
Ray Verified Member Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 Eduardo Nunez makes 100% sense to target in the offseason. He's overachieving right now, but he can still be a solid everyday guy in the event of Travis/Tulo going down.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 Player Note Wed, Aug 30 Devon Travis (knee) suffered a setback in his rehab last week. Advice: "He was moving along good, taking ground balls, hitting, a little bit of running, and then it flared up on him again," explained Blue Jays manager John Gibbons. With this setback, it is uncertain whether Travis will be able to return this season. He has been out of action since early June following his undergoing surgery to repair cartilage damage in his right knee. Travis was tracking toward a minor league rehab assignment prior to this setback. More: MLB.com Feel sorry for the kid. It's just swelling from surgery but still, so frustrating for us and him, so much potential here.

He'd want to start everyday, and likely wants too much coin, I really hope Gurriel steps up as our utility guy.

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 MLB.com: We've seen teams essentially rebuild their farm systems -- or at least the upper echelons of their farm systems -- with one or two big trades. Josh Donaldson is going to be a popular topic for the next year; he has a year left on his contract. When you have a guy like that who is approaching his final year before free agency, do you have to consider all options going into this winter and next season? Shapiro: You walk through all alternatives at every decision-making juncture. In this situation, the desire to win and to continue to give a relatively new fan base -- because a lot of fans that are coming are new fans -- a reason to cheer and to come to the ballpark is probably more important than just maybe pushing the express button on how to regenerate and reinvigorate the farm system. We've tried to balance that by understanding and doing a lot of that work at the lower levels. The next juncture to look at that will be the offseason. The next juncture after that will be the Trade Deadline. When we think that we no longer have the opportunity to build a contending team, whoever is there, we're going to have to consider, do we trade those guys? Not JD specifically, but whoever it is, we'll have to consider can we do things that help us when we're able to be a contender again?
TheHurl Site Manager Posted August 31, 2017 Posted August 31, 2017 Shapiro interview with MLB... Nothing new really http://m.bluejays.mlb.com/news/article/251193324/mark-shapiro-on-blue-jays-donaldson-indians/ I think the stadium food, security and in house production contracts are all up this off season (or next I really can't remember). Shapiro is going to be a busy man doing non baseball stuff this off-season. An absolute overhaul of the food offerings is a must.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 Sept. call ups include Richard Urena, Teoscar Hernandez, Michael Saunders, Maile and I think I'm missing someone else.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 Wasn't expecting Urena. Might as well play him everyday instead of Goins.
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 King, your boy Ramirez has been called up. Let's see what he's got, though it's already a pretty cool and successful story to this point.
