z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted December 20, 2017 Posted December 20, 2017 Cain does make perfect sense for them. Seems like a Giant's move
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted December 20, 2017 Posted December 20, 2017 with change of scenery out of the Tampa shithole, i can see Longo rebounding nicely
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 Funny you say that, Huh, didn't realize the NBA flat earth truther had competition for the dumbest f***er in pro sports. Christ, there a thread where you don't just try to shove your politics down everyone's throat? Being skeptical isn't a bad thing, nor did that tweet indicate that Span is a Sandy Hook truther. Apparently finding conspiracy theories interesting means you're literally Hitler. Also, even if he was a Sandy Hook truther, how does that automatically make him a bad person?
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 Why you asshats bringing this s*** here, man?
glory Old-Timey Member Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 Well, would you have been happy if we got the same return the Rays got for Longo? Not really. The whole point of trading JD would be to get a top prospect or two. If teams are not willing to do that because of the lack of team control he brings, then hold on to him. Trading him for the sake of trading him in December doesn't make sense. I'd rather hope for a miracle wild card run than trade him for a top 100 prospect as the center piece.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 Lol nice meltdown guy, did I upset you that much in the other thread? I'll continue posting as I please and you can keep crying about it incessantly, sound good? Lmfao You're just annoying. You made a thread for being annoying, is it so hard to just stick to doing that? Feel free to comment on actual baseball but your social justice agenda should probably not enter this arena.

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 I posted an actual thing an mlb player said that was recently involved in a trade, I'm sorry if that makes you want to poop in your diaper Boxbaby but I'll stick to posting what I like, thanks. Was also stupid and irrelevant and you implied that simply finding conspiracy theories interesting makes one a bad person. Those things appear pretty convincing, I wouldn't be surprised if it made Span have some doubt, it's what they are designed to do. Show a little compassion for people, FFS. Or, you know, hold his feet over the fire for a few sentences he said 2 years ago. Whatever floats your boat.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 Won't somebody please have some compassion for the Sandy hook conspiracy crowd, lo-f***ing-l. I am sorry Silvergun, I should not have responded to your post and I take full responsibility for this negative interaction. Thread, please carry on as usual. Or make 2018 since I ruined this one.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 It's f***ing weird that Mitch Moreland basically got the same contract as Yonder Alonso. Kinda makes you wonder why Boston didn't think to sign Alonso instead when he's two years younger and coming off a way better season.

I'd much rather hope that the breakouts by Alonso and Morrison are real than go back to the incredibly average Mitch Moreland.
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 Tom Koehler signs for the Dodgers for $2m plus incentives - significantly less than what we’d have had to pay him in arbitration.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 Looks like the Yankees are close to getting Cole.
BTS Community Moderator Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 Tom Koehler signs for the Dodgers for $2m plus incentives - significantly less than what we’d have had to pay him in arbitration. I guess he’s the next Blanton/Morrow.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 Looks like the Yankees are close to getting Cole. Or maybe not
BTS Community Moderator Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 I bet they end up getting him for for Adams or Sheffield + 2-3 lower ranked guys.
BTS Community Moderator Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 Also New York is a weird fit for Cole. He doesn't seem like a guy who would handle it well if things started out poorly in that environment.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 I bet they end up getting him for for Adams or Sheffield + 2-3 lower ranked guys. I would imagine Clint Frazier would be the most obvious piece going to Pittsburgh. Maybe something like Frazier, Adams ± 2 lottery tickets.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 I bet they end up getting him for for Adams or Sheffield + 2-3 lower ranked guys. That seems pretty fair. Similar to what they paid for Sonny Gray. He hasnt become the ace everyone thought he would be
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 J Bowden #Yankees #Pirates close to deal that will send Gerrit Cole to the Yankees….Gleyber Torres will NOT be part of the trade according to a #Pirates source
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 Pretty enviable SP depth they've built. Not spectacular in quality but easily strong enough to prop up their lineup.
BTS Community Moderator Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 Pretty enviable SP depth they've built. Not spectacular in quality but easily strong enough to prop up their lineup. Severino/Tanaka/Cole/Gray/Montgomery/Sabathia is pretty enviable. Looks like 4 3+ win guys, a solid average 5, and then CC.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 Pittsburgh planning for when McCutchen leaves (Marte, Frazier, Meadows).
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 That seems pretty fair. Similar to what they paid for Sonny Gray. He hasnt become the ace everyone thought he would be I don't know man. He's been pretty damn good when healthy. I would bet his WAR/inning is right up there. He just hasn't been able to stay healthy. Christ that's a good, young, deep rotation now. The Yanks look unstoppable - especially if Torres steps right in and produces. I mean we've said that before (usually about Washington), but hot damn, the next 3-5 years doesn't look promising for the Jays.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 Pittsburgh planning for when McCutchen leaves (Marte, Frazier, Meadows). Makes sense
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 Does the cole deal set the approx market for stroman? Stro a year younger, talent and results comparable
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted December 22, 2017 Posted December 22, 2017 ]I don't know man. He's been pretty damn good when healthy. [/b] I 2015 was really good, past two years I'd say just good. A lot more in the Sonny Gray, Marcus Stroman camp than the Bumgarners which is what he was projected for is what I was getting at
