jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 I don't remember the specifics. Maybe it was 4-5 fWAR. It got fixed eventually, but for a few weeks Burch Smith was projected as CY caliber starter. No that was right. They projected him both as a elite reliever and above average starter throwing 200+ innings and out came 8 war or something close to that
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted December 14, 2017 Posted December 14, 2017 I'd trade JD straight up for Luke Weaver if an extension couldn't be worked out. I'm sure that wouldn't be on the table though. Yeah, me too (or probably Reyes), but I don't see it happening. I'd probably do something like Flaherty, Bader, and a wildcard like Gomber though.

Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 I keep seeing rumours of the Mets trading for Kipnis. What do you think the ask would be from Cleveland?
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 I keep seeing rumours of the Mets trading for Kipnis. What do you think the ask would be from Cleveland? The SN staff at the WM this past week, reported the Jays have talked to them about Kipnis and their relationship, etc... haven't seen it anywhere else, though. Doesn't make sense to me as he isn't a utility piece, but that would likely end Travis' as a Blue Jay.
Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 The Yankees are in talks with the Pirates for trading for Gerrit Cole.

It might keep him healthier if he isn't continually diving and landing on his knees.

Shart Verified Member Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 Indians agreed to minor-league deal with Melvin Upton Jr.

TheHurl Site Manager Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 I didn't realize that the Cards traded Piscotty to the A's so that he could be closer to his Mom who has ALS. Just a classy org.

Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 Carlos Santana to the Phillies. 3 years $60M.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 Indians agreed to minor-league deal with Melvin Upton Jr. That's a smart low key move. A healthy Upton is a rosterable asset.
BTS Community Moderator Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 Carlos Santana to the Phillies. 3 years $60M. But... why?
Shart Verified Member Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 Carlos Santana to the Phillies. 3 years $60M. Massive overpay. This will throw the entire market into a frenzie.
BTS Community Moderator Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 So Hoskins is an everyday OF now, and they'll trade one of Altherr/Williams/Herrera.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 Angels sign Zack Cozart to a 3 year deal to play 3B. That should be some good IF defense over on the left side. They are looking like a solid WC contender to me.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/12/angels-sign-zack-cozart.html Strange fit but ehhh.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 The Angels want that 2nd wild card.
BTS Community Moderator Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 The Angels look like a very good team now. Only real holes in the lineup are C and 1B. They should sign an Alonso/LoMo type.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 3 years $38M seems like a reasonable deal for Cozart - even if his offensive breakout was a mirage.

Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 Massive overpay. This will throw the entire market into a frenzie. Who are you again? An actual new poster, or just a new name? He got what Edwin got - which makes sense because they provide similar value; however, he's 2 years younger than Edwin at the time of signing. If we project Santana at 3 WAR in 2018, 2.5 WAR in 2019 and 2.0 WAR in 2020 - he provides the Phillies with surplus value in the range of $15M. It seems about right to me. Phillies seem to be making a move to contend now.

Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 Cozart is one of my favourite player. He have a donkey
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 Massive overpay. This will throw the entire market into a frenzie. Major league source says Red Sox had made a 3-year offer to Carlos Santana this week, but not in the $60M range of Philly. One of the best - arguably the best - free agent alternative to Martinez/Hosmer is off the board.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted December 15, 2017 Posted December 15, 2017 Wow Angels looking GOOD
