Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted December 9, 2017 Posted December 9, 2017 I'd like to see us spend some money and make a few trades (not Vlad or Bo). We could challenge the Yankees if we get better at a few spots next season. If Stroman and Sanchez are at top form.....pitching beats hitting 2019 is looking great as well
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2017 Posted December 9, 2017 This is definitely thread-worthy.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2017 Posted December 9, 2017 Who do you guys think the prospects will be? They said a couple guys in the lower levels so I'll guess Pablo Olivares and Freicer Perez
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2017 Posted December 9, 2017 I'm gonna say Castro, Gardner, Frazier, Kaprielian.
mtljaysfan Verified Member Posted December 9, 2017 Posted December 9, 2017 As a die-hard Jays fan, I'm actually excited and happy for our rival, the Yankees if they get Stanton. Sounds odd, but i'll explain. The Jays and the Yankees are in completely different stages of life cycle. We're an old and mediocre team at best and they're young, good and improving. We won't be competing with them for the division for quite a while I would say. If not Stanton, they'll go after Harper and Machado next off-season anyways. The Yankees actually succesfully rebuilt/Retooled rather rapidly. They developed their young core. And they made some excellent trades. We all remember they sold off Chapman and Miller at the 2016 trade deadline. At the time and Yankees were still in the race but they had the judgement and the courage to pull off the trades. Sure their fan base understandably wasn't too happy. How that turned out for them. They deserve their team. I wish the Jays would take a similar approach to rebuild/retool our team and have even better success. The Yankees will be a fun team to watch for the next few years for their loaded lineup. And we can be a fun team to watch too if we acquire, develop young talents. It can also be beneficial as we play a lot, for for the record/standing, but for developing our young, future stars. You make most progresse by playing against the best. If we can get where the Yankees are now, and start competing in 3 years, I'll be very happy.

Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2017 Posted December 9, 2017 I'm gonna say Castro, Gardner, Frazier, Kaprielian. That would be a huge overpay unless the Marlins are picking up a lot of salary, which is unlikely since Jeter and co. are cheaper f***s than Loria.
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2017 Posted December 9, 2017 I'm pretty sure we don't live in a world where the Yankees have both Sonny Gray and James Kaprielian, if you know what I mean.

P2F Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2017 Posted December 9, 2017 im dumn It's okay. It wasn't as bad as this Yankees prospect podcast: https://soundcloud.com/fantrax/fantrax-dynasty-baseball-new-york-yankees-farm-system At 22:40, the face palms ensue regarding Dustin Fowler.
Maine Jays Verified Member Posted December 9, 2017 Posted December 9, 2017 Stanton pretty much veteod a trade to the Cards I was talking about us dealing them Donaldson after losing out on Stanton.
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted December 9, 2017 Posted December 9, 2017 (edited) I'm gonna say Castro, Gardner, Frazier, Kaprielian. Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted December 10, 2017 Posted December 10, 2017 They were elected via the Modern Ballot. Not sure what that is exactly. Alan Trammell had a pretty good case for the HoF IMO while Morris did not.

Basically a group of old HoF players collectively decide whether or not a certain player should go in the hall if they haven't been elected thru the BBWAA.
Hipfan Verified Member Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 Morrow top 5 closer next year. Morrow top 5 DL time next year...
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 Is that what they call The Veteran's Committee now?
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 Why the f*** would they elect Jack Morris to the HOF?
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 I don’t see either as HOF caliber. I like that this vote exists but I’m a little confused.
P2F Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 LMAO! That organization is such a joke. Thank f*** Rogers couldn't hire this knob jockey. We dodged a Maryland-sized bullet there.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 More bad news for the Red Sox: http://mlb.nbcsports.com/2017/12/10/report-steven-wright-arrested-on-domestic-assault-charges/ If this charges are true whether he gets convicted or not, Wright will likely face a lengthy suspension under MLB's domestic abuse policies--and it will mean Brian Johnson as Boston's 5th starter in 2018 to start (he's out of options and either will be in the rotation or bullpen on Opening Day). They're already without Pedroia and E-Rod until June.. they can't afford more injuries or suspensions.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 Especially with the O's org. set to implode after 2018--Machado, Jones, Britton and Brach hit free agency, leaving a team with just Schoop, the Chris Davis albatross, and no pitching beyond Bundy and Gausman.. it's not going to be pretty. A decent owner would've put all 4 of those pending free agents on the block right now and rebuilt, especially with the state of the Orioles organization.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 Holy f***, so that's why it took so long to hear that the Orioles were out. What a bunch of f***ing retards. Between Gausman wearing #34 to honour Doc (lol!) and this crap, Orioles are looking like the dumbest team in baseball. Who's dumber? I can only think of the Padres.

Wow... if he hadn't put a hand on her and gets charged with domestic assault, this World just keeps getting worse, in saying that, he was also charged with prevention of a 911 call, where I can't see how he didn't. Also there's this thing we're mired in right now buddy, it's called the off season, you know FA, trades and all that jazz.
BTS Community Moderator Posted December 11, 2017 Posted December 11, 2017 Lmao @ Jack Morris getting in while Mike Mussina and Kevin Brown might not. These idiots have no f***ing idea what they’re doing.
