I did too. I meant if they are going to report that someone who played for the Twins minor league affiliate signed a minor league contract with the Marlins, I feel like a death of a former major league player is news too.

I see, yes I agree.

Don't know if you were following during the steroid witch hunt but young and old alike were calling it a black mark on the America's game. They brought in parents who told stories of how steroids effected their children (Taylor Hooten's parents were positioned very prominently in the trial, knowing now that their son likely was suffering from depression from CTE, rather than steroid use). Drugs=bad...it has been driven into North American's minds for generations now.

I was hoping that time would heal all wounds. But I suppose not. I blame this all on Bonds. He looked f***ing ridiculous. Way overboard and totally unnecessary given the trajectory his career was already on. Ruined it for everyone else who was smart enough to sweep it under the rug. Still belongs in the HOF though.

Interesting the competing narratives we see in this thread. Baseball is an old man's sport that kids don't watch....and yet many kids were influenced by baseball players using steroids.

Grant Dayton signed with the Braves. He was amazing in 22016, but not so good last year. I don't know if he's damaged goods. It I would have liked to see the Jays grab him given how awful our loogys are.

Rangers sign Doug Fister to MLB deal

He turned back the clock a bit on his velocity last year. I'm glad it's them and not us though, regardless of the figure.

Looks like 1/4 with a 7M team option and incentives. Not bad for what should be a serviceable back end guy.

I don’t mean to be callous, but does MLBTR need a post every time a player with some MLB experience dies? I mean, who actually cares about Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez beyond a ‘yeah, it’s a shame when people die youngish’.

s***, for some reason I thought I owned him in one of our leagues. False alarm!

Guess not much Truth to Tinnish hating AA or money was too good.

I wasn't aware that there was any rumour about Tinnish hating AA. AA brought Tinnish up and both are Canadian; pretty sure they were close.

Either way, this sucks as Tinnish was heading the Latin American operations and seemingly doing a good job at it.

Anorher source quoted on MLB network says the Dodgers are his preferred landing spot and he would not accept a trade elsewhere until he gave the Dodgers a final chance to work out a deal

Must be nice running a team where players really want to go and give you preferred trade rights and home town discounts on contract extensions

Smart man, ball's in his court.

I mean he's from there, so not surprising it he wants to prioritise them. Players really only care about money and winning, I'm sure if we could set up a winning culture here players would be happy to play here.

Every park is a hitter's park.

Just took a quick look at ESPN's MLB Park Factors. How's Houston last? RC 21st? Am I reading it wrong?

AA promotes Perry Minasian to Asst. GM and steals Tinnish from the Jays. Dana Brown should follow next and the four (headless) horsemen will ride again.

This will actually be a good science experiment for the hypothesis that the AA regime was actually bad.

A semi-independent investigation.

No doubt, called this a while back.

He's got the IQ of a squirrel, so it's not really all that shocking.

Meh, not many of these guys are educated, he had a nice piece with Halladay, they're mostly jocks.
