Kluber with another gem

Sale scoreless through 4

Facing either of them twice in a 5 game series is a depressing thought for any team

Let's not get to confident either. At this point, all we can do is have hope that miracles can happen. A good start to that would be a quality start from Tepesch tomorrow, a miracle in itself.

Probably his last start too. Let's hope the bats are alive.

Exactly. These guys pitch and we start feeling good again, then the other days we have to put some of the garbage that we've been putting out and you lose all hope. No momentum.

Yep. Jays need to go on a huge winning streak just to get back into real contention, and they'll have to do that with 2/5 of the rotation being dumpster fire. Rowley had a good start, but he's not reliable by any means. That's not even factoring the lineup with Barney/Ref and Goins up the middle, Pillar at center, and Raffy/Montero/Ohlman at catcher.

Too little, too late. But hell, even if they fake contention from now until October, at least it will kill time. Nothing worse than waiting for the off-season to begin in August. Go on a fake run and keep me entertained.

Wow... Devers takes Chapman Yard!

That was insane. 20 years old Devers takes the 103 MPH fastball from Chapman yard to tie the game in the top of the 9th inning on Sunday night baseball

Seriously what?

I know, first HR given up to a LHB this season and it's this just wet behind the ears phenom, kid.

I love how last year we shat on Dickey so much but he would have been so much better than many of the SP we rolled with this year.

I don't think RA Dickey would have re-signed here as a No. 6 starter.

Actually that was Chapman's first HR allowed all season, to anyone. I think they said he had gone since 2011 not allowing a HR to a LH hitter.

And then there's this

@darenw

Rafael Devers home run was off a 102.8 MPH pitch.... Hardest pitch hit for a HR... Welp ever in the tracked velocity era. (2008)

Cool... even more impressive.

I can't stress how insane it is that a 20 year old lefty just took Chapman yard. That's a monster.

Yeah Devers looks like a great hitter. Some of the things they were saying about him on the broadcast (poise, plate discipline, etc.) sounds a lot like Vlad Jr. He even has a similar stocky body type.

With Francisco Liriano as our number 5 starter things were bound to get bad.

I agree with you that RA Dickey would have been a good fit right now in this rotation with all the injuries and crap arms the Jays have ran out there so far like Valdez, Tepesch, Lawrence etc. RA Dickey though doesn't re-sign with the Blue Jays knowing he is the No. 6 starter on the depth charts.

3 years in the bigs and I never heard of Tommy Kahnle.

To be fair - he sucked until this year. Now he's one of the best bullpens arms in baseball.

I was hoping Dumbrowski would have traded him. Won't happen now. Darn.

Ok

If the Yankees keep scuffling like this it brings BOTH wildcard spots into reach for everyone

That makes a huge difference

Just sayin'

And that includes the Jays--heck, if he we take 3/4 or sweep Tampa, we could be right within distance of the 2nd wild card ourselves--Angels get a difficult series with the Nats and the Orioles this week, two teams that are hitting well--even without Harper, Washington is still a tough team.

Minnesota's going to have a bad week--Cleveland is on their sked, then the D-Backs.. which should pretty much put an end to the Twins chances.. seriously, the Twins aren't that good.. they were lucky to be playing a bad Tigers team and a collapsing Brew Crew.. that godawful bullpen really hurts the Twins.

And the Royals have Oakland, then Cleveland..

It is important the Jays keep winning series.. with the depleted AL this year, the Jays still have an outside shot of playing in October..

Also Yankees are fortunate that they got Garcia and Gray or they'd be in big trouble right now

Yes, and yet they're running out Luis Cessa tonight instead of calling up Chance Adams... are they trying to let other teams back in the playoff race? Because it sure feels like it.. and Tanaka/Sabathia aren't expected back until late August at a minimum..
