Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 Chase De Jong traded to the M's for a couple of low A ball players. He would have been excellent depth to grab given our situation next year.

Don't get me wrong, AA's decision to sacrifice him and Locastro for the sake of going all in on Vlad Junior looks like it was worth it. Vlad is on the fast track to be the number one prospect in baseball and De Jong is a different animal, one of those guys who might provide sneaky value without generating much hype but not a guy you miss if Vlad fulfills his promise. All the same, it would have been nice to get De Jong back. Still it's not like the Mariners gave up nothing exactly. Jackson was a top 10-ish prospect for the Mariners and Zabala is young, throws hard and makes for a pretty attractive lottery ticket.

z3r0s Old-Timey Member Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 I hate when Red Sox and Yankee players get injured. Makes me feel like a dick being happy that a ball player is injured.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 Wow thats a f***ing blow if he needs TJS... I don't know who they go out and get.... Fister is still out there but obviously a huge step down.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 Probably should be the last 30-year old pitcher that should get a 7-year deal at 200+ million with his crazy workload. I like David Price and feel bad for him but hate Boston so I'm torn.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 I mean I really like David Price, but how sweet would that be?

Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 I feel bad for Price but s*** that's big news for us!
Laika Community Moderator Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 Pete Abraham @PeteAbe That David Price is headed to the combine to see Drs. Andrews and ElAttrache certainly suggests this is not a routine issue.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 Pomeranz seems like a large injury risk Wright too
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 Sucks for Price but f*** do I hate Boston.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 Red Sox fans are already demanding that Dombrowski trades another haul of prospects for Jose Quintana.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 Red Sox fans are already demanding that Dombrowski trades another haul of prospects for Jose Quintana. I don't know if they even have the pieces to do that, at this point. It would take Devers + Groome + more, and apparently Dombrowski refused to trade Devers in the Sale deal, which hung up the trade for awhile until the White Sox accepted Basabe & Diaz instead.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 Sale, Porcello, Pomeranz, Wright, Rodriguez 6th man probably Roenis Elias Pomeranz seems like a large injury risk That's some pretty nice contingencies. Probably not worth it for them to look outside the system for a replacement though the fact that Fister is still around and only costs money would make him somewhat attractive despite not pitching very well lately.

I can't blame them for wanting to keep Devers given their 3B situation.
jaysguy44 Old-Timey Member Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 Like others have stated, I hate feeling happy about a guy being injuried and especially it being a good guy like Price. It's hard to wipe this smile off my face though, I absolutely hate the Sox. It looks like Hanley has a shoulder injury that is causing him problems as well... Christmas in March?
Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 Noooooooo... Thu, Mar 2 David Price underwent an MRI after experiencing considerable soreness in his left elbow. Advice: Price has been scratched from his scheduled Grapefruit League debut on Sunday and Red Sox manager John Farrell admitted that there is real concern among the club's medical staff. The high-priced left-hander will get a second opinion from Dr. James Andrews at the NFL Combine before anything is announced officially. None of this sounds good.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 The neck bearded mouth breathers on Sportsnet Canada are going to conveniently forget that they blasted the front office for not wanting Price back a year ago. Price is a good dude so not happy he's hurt. Sucks for him. That huge ass contract is probably nice to fall back on though.

RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 Holy crap I dont mean him any arm, but that is a f***ing opening right there.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 Damn this sucks for Price... but we caught a break just now
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 You take Price out of the picture, Honestly they still have the better team but its very close. Very Close.
BTS Community Moderator Posted March 2, 2017 Posted March 2, 2017 Price out long term is bad for baseball, but this is exactly why you don't sign pitchers to massive long-term contracts.

Exactly nobody is immune from it and i would be surprised if Sale does not have an Arm injury in his future just the way he throws....
