Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 Valbuena to LAA on a multiyear deal Faaaack... nice for the Angels.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 Wow what a great deal for the Orioles the same we paid for Morales
Hipfan Verified Member Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 Been an interesting offseason in regards to player salaries. Front offices are clearly altering the way they view players; did anyone expect Chapman and Jansen to get paid far more than EE and JB? And now Trumbo getting under 40M; I know he's a one dimensional power hitter but the market took a huge left turn, it seems, this year.
closetjaysfan Verified Member Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 Just watched the Tim Raines HOF call. I wonder if he has clips of himself playing constantly on that TV in the background...
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 I kinda feel like Morales will probably out-perform Trumbo over the next three years (home runs aside). Not a bad deal for the O's though (probably).
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 Also, Trumbo has never posted a wRC+ as high as any of Morales' 3 best wRC+ seasons. It's probably 50/50 on who is the better hitter next year. I might lean towards Morales though. Morales is also 2-3 years older,
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 Valbuena to LAA on a multiyear deal NNNOOOOOOOOO. ffs.

RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 His ability to play infield positions probably influenced the deal Who is left now.
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 Valbuena to LAA on a multiyear deal Likely as a utility player--not everyday. His best position is 1B at this point in his career--his defense is pretty mediocre at 2B, SS and 3B.. it's possible the move was made for bench depth and the fact Pujols may be delayed returning from foot surgery, which may require Valbuena to split DH/1B time with Cron, plus there's a chance Cron is dealt for pitching.

jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 Former Blue Jays JOSH JOHNSON anmounced his retirement Funny to think he was the key piece in that Marlins fire sale--yet Reyes and Buehrle were the only useful pieces, as Reyes was sent in another deal to Colorado with Hoffman and Castro for Tulo, and Buehrle was a solid arm in 2015 while Stroman recovered from a serious injury. Shocking to think Anthony DeSclafani is the only one that's done anything .. the rest of the Josh Johnson trade has produced mediocre talent (Marisinick, Hech, Nicolino) or got injured (Alvarez)

L54 Old-Timey Member Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 Wow 97 wRC+ Steamer projection for Valbuena that's pretty gross.
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 Trumbo is staying with the O's on a three year deal.

Bobthe4th Old-Timey Member Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 Trumbo is staying with the O's on a three year deal. Orioles agree to three-year, $37.5 million deal with slugger Mark Trumbo
jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted January 20, 2017 Posted January 20, 2017 CJ Cron suxxxxxxxx. Valbeuna's going to play 1st most of the time. It depends on when Pujols is healthy.. otherwise, he's a bench bat. 3B is blocked by Escobar, 2B by Espinosa and SS by Simmons. At least the Angels are trying to threaten the Astros and Rangers.. still need pitching, though.
