IBTrini Verified Member Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 Kinzer wanted 5/125. Kinzer misjudged the market as did others (Bautista fell into that trap as well) and Encarnacion misjudged Kinzer - circle of confusion, "money". I know, this is cryptic.
IBTrini Verified Member Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 It sounds like they didn't tell him they were moving on When you say you will be pulling your offer off the table if it is not accepted within a time-frame that is usually signals a "moving on" approach.

I was worried that "Griffin" was Alfredo Griffin, but it turns out it's just some guy named Richard. Hardly an authority!
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 Raptors lose Eastern Conference semis to the Cavs. Jays lose to the Tribe in the ALCS. Jays lose EE to them as well. This is so tragic. I cannot take this anymore. Cleveland is a shithole. It doesn't deserve nice things and we have to stop losing to them. All that city deserves is the Browns. The NFL team and the stuff in the toilet.

Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 And the Indians lost Shapiro and Atkins to Toronto. I'm not so sure Cleveland is all that upset about losing its only Jew.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 We are taking so many losses to Cleveland and its usually Cleveland taking losses against everyone else.
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 We are taking so many losses to Cleveland and its usually Cleveland taking losses against everyone else. Cleveland has been punishing us ever since Geddy Lee got into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

bzapple Verified Member Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 I would have preferred this to Morales at 3/33, but honestly I don't see it as a huge difference. It made sense for Edwin to turn down the Jays offer in order to test the market, as is his right. The Jays acted quickly on other options in order to avoid missing out. There's something to be said for getting things done quickly. It's not an ideal situation, but it's an adequate one, and there's plenty of offseason left. Kind of weird to see some of the posters who have been around a while reacting so emotionally to this. It's just how the market played out. I would still like to see them bring back Bautista at the right price, however, as I do believe in some degree of loyalty.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 Disappointed to lose Edwin but the FO did make a major offer to him that he rejected. I thought it was an overpay at 4/80. Truly sucks to lose an icon who gave us some great moments. I still watch his WC HR against the 0's at least twice a week. Suck it Buck. We get a pick and pray that Morales(who we probably gave an extra year to the way the market broke) smashes the ball at the RC from both sides of the plate. I do like the fact he is a SH. It sucks emotionally but I'm ok with this as a fan, and can't be upset with the FO. Gary Verified Member Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 How is Cleveland's home park, compared to Rogers Centre? I think both Pearce and Morales have better seasons next year, compared to EE.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 How is Cleveland's home park, compared to Rogers Centre? I think both Pearce and Morales have better seasons next year, compared to EE. HR factor of 95 for RH hitters.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 Ouch, 3 for 65 with an option stings. I understand Atkins moving on after the initial offer but this one was a mistake on his part. He didn't have to sign Morales so quickly. Instead of EE at a fair price he gave 41 million to DH/1B bats in Morales and Smoak. I guess hindsight is 20/20. We have money to spend, what is Atkins going to do with it at this point? The Pearce signing was brilliant but this offseason has been a huge dud so far.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 That wall might steal a few of his homeruns but he crushes balls. He's just going to have to adjust to playing in the cold more often.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 So his Agent is terrible. Who the hell goes on radio to say this after he signed?
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 Weirdest free agent case ever. I seriously doubt Edwin can be that happy but Cleveland should make the playoffs easily.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 So his Agent is terrible. Who the hell goes on radio to say this after he signed? His agent sure does talk a lot.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 His agent sure does talk a lot. I'm not sure it has benefited his client once either. Obvious he isn't going to get any more star players with how badly he has handled Edwin.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 Like Oakland will be pissed that he leaked this info. As an agent you don't go make public what other teams offered.
Frenchsoup Verified Member Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 Nice move for the Indians.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 Obvious he isn't going to get any more star players with how badly he has handled Edwin. That's a big assumption. He's been a pretty big agent for a while.

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 That's a big assumption. He's been a pretty big agent for a while. Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 They seem to be doing much better after dropping the dead weight Where did Cleveland's returning core players come from?
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 Neither of those two are his clients. http://rep1baseball.com/clients/ Thanks for the link. His client list still looks pretty meh. Castro got a nice sized contract but outside of that there isn't much $ there.
TheHurl Site Manager Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 Neither of those two are his clients. http://rep1baseball.com/clients/ Got to wonder how a guy from Douglasville, Georgia becomes one of the most influential agents in Latin America. Must say that I do respect that he's written his daughter-in-law's title as Equipment and Client Servicing.
