Yes, there is a practical limit based on payroll restrictions. We are discussing theoretical value though.

 

If your theoretical value system gives you values that are not realistic, doesn't that indicate there is something wrong with the system?

Yep - I get that. $100M for 3 years....$33M a year. He's worth about $135M....so he's worth more than they paid to get him.....this is essentially proving my point Chris.

This really sucks! A 1 - 2 punch of Sale & Price with that offense, even if they'll likely be regression is downright scary.

We are solid #1-5 with upside to be even better. Back end of our pen is great as well. We just need to full out the rest of our pen.

A player is really only worth what a team is willing to pay him so it's kind of a mute point. Regardless it was just a silly tweet that looked kind of foolish on the surface when you consider $33.33MM would be the highest paid player in the majors, or at the very least exactly in line with contracts like Kershaw/Price, etc.
