Kind of wish we could put a stadium on the island, where the airport is.

Ontario Place is the next best bet.

Many complain about the concrete walkway ramps - but I wonder if those are critical structural components for the building...

They are not.

Do you have a vested interest in this or something

I wish. The land at Ontario Place isn't being used, so kind of makes sense as a spot if they were going to build a new ballpark, though doubt that happens in the next 10 years.

Any idea as to the cost and viability of building a man-made island or extending the area south of the CN tower outward into the lake? Say 1000x1000 feet.. I would like to see a stadium with a retractable roof, possibly taking elements from ballparks such as Camden, AT&T, Minute Made, PNC etc.

Maybe wait another 5-10 years. I think it would be a stupid idea to sink $400 mill into the Rogers center.

I imagine they'll install some sort of premium club in the 100 Level between the dugouts like what Wrigley is doing. You can see it here https://cubspremier.com/

Instead of only getting $80/ticket they can offer a bunch of "unique premium clientele options" and charge 25-50K instead.

At 25-50K it might be a tough sell, the Cubs are a bigger market and Rogers center isnt Wrigley field.

There is a lot of corporate $ in the city and if they take out a bunch of the suites, I'm sure companies would be interested. You include VIP parking, food and drinks etc. 25K isn't that much when you consider the In the Action seats go for 20K already.

I think that would anger a lot of long time STHs with seats there (including me.)

Oh it would for me as well as I have tickets in Section 120 but they won't leave all that $ on that table, no business would. I'm sure they would do something for those STH who would get moved to other sections.

These are the good times with Blue Jays fever currently at a 20+ yrs high.

Maybe it could come crashing down fairly quickly if there's an exodus of stars and mediocrity in the standings?

So perhaps the new regime shouldn't get too greedy by taking too much for granted (as they inherited the sell out crowds.)

It's sad watching a game on TV played in Yankees stadium and those prime ridiculously price lower level infield seats are often more than half empty.

Slightly off topic the pictures of Wrigley's teardown are fascinating. Wrigley Aerials Twitter page.

My seats are right behind the "In The Action" seats and I frequently get offered those seats at cost from a few folks in front of me because they tell me that they're not that easy to resell for non-sellout games . . . and these are the good times!

Expensive seats are never that easy to resell, especially when against bad teams or on a weeknight. Same thing with mainly any sports team like the Leafs and even the Raptors, which is why I got upper level seats instead of lower bowl for my Raps season tickets.

If Grass cost $150 Million, I'd much rather that money spent elsewhere on improving the stadium. I'm not sure why fans care so much about grass anyway, sure it looks better but it doesn't impact the viewing experience at all.

Give me better seats, cup holders, lounges and washrooms and I'm happy.

You're not gonna find a better location for a stadium than where the RC currently sits.

I wonder what the cost involved would be to build a new stadium out on the lake on a man made island, say 1000x1000

I'd be happy if the RC changed up the seats. the ones they have now are perfect for a 12 year old as long as that twelve year old doesn't get some 6" 240lb guy sitting beside them. The seats are so small that you can't sit shoulder to shoulder. if you go with a group of your buddies, unless you're all a bunch of twigs.

I can only sit in the TD seats.

It's part of the ambiance. Like you're going to a park. If it was just about appearance, other stadiums would move to turf.

It's a good location, but still requires you to walk about ten minutes if you're coming from Union. And besides some bars and restaurants, you have a lot of ugly condos surrounding the stadium.

Even if they put grass in the park is surrounded by ugly concrete. The biggest reason is players would prefer grass as its easier on the body.

Two things on my baseball wish list for Toronto:

Yes, a grass baseball-only authentic ballpark ... but i'm very patient about it being built eventually.

And ... something that hopefully happens a lot earlier ... a MLB team put back in Montreal and placed in the A.L. East.
