jaysguy44 Old-Timey Member Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 I don't see it that way. I hope I'm wrong. 4 years/80 mil is a lot of dough though
Gary Verified Member Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 I hope I'm wrong. 4 years/80 mil is a lot of dough though Him and his agent are using the HanRam 4 years/88 million contract as a comparable.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 Him and his agent are using the HanRam 4 years/88 million contract as a comparable. Ya..... However when they signed HanRam he could play a few positions. SS, 3RD, OF(Not well)
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 Him and his agent are using the HanRam 4 years/88 million contract as a comparable. I'd be totally fine with that, TBH.
jaysguy44 Old-Timey Member Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 Him and his agent are using the HanRam 4 years/88 million contract as a comparable. Fair enough. I wasn't aware of that, I'd be cool with that.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 It better not come down to a few million. If we are willing to go 4/80 why not 4/88 But if it's a 5th year no thanks Jeff

Governator Community Moderator Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 lol @ anyone thinking gbill has a source that EE would sign for $88MM.

FrozenRopes Verified Member Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 The Yankees won't pay 4/100? 3/90? What gives?
Gary Verified Member Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 The Yankees won't pay 4/100? 3/90? What gives? Yankees are more fiscally responsible these days. They're looking for a value power hitter now on a lesser term contract. Plus they're saving up for 2018 free agency...
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 I just can't imagine another team ponying up more
Gary Verified Member Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 I just can't imagine another team ponying up more I agree. Jays might have been his best offer.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 I agree. Jays might have been his best offer. I just dont understand his mindsight. I will be blown if he gets his 5th year, I cant imagine who it will be. Obviously if they turned it down, then they must have some interest at the 5th year. I know it wouldn't be anyone else in the East. Twins, Royals, Tigers don't have the money. Whitesox are rebuilding and the Indians are better managed That just leaves the West. The Astros, the Rangers, the mariners and the angels. I cant imagine Rangers making a deal like the after what happened with Fielder but it would be an upgrade for them, same can probably be said for the Mariners. He is definitely going to be looking at a deal out West.
FrozenRopes Verified Member Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 4/100 is what I would push for. He is the elite bat in the market. I don't think he is worth it but he should take to teams that can win and need him. Yankees are bad, Red Sox, Jays, Cleveland, Texas
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 I'm glad they aren't going a penny over 4/80 that's more than fair.

Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 4 or 5 years to EE at $20M+ a year likely means bye bye JD edit: after 2017, that is

Rusty_Savage Verified Member Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 4 or 5 years to EE at $20M+ a year likely means bye bye JD edit: after 2017, that is We have JD thru 2018. He has one arb year left after this two year deal iirc.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 We have JD thru 2018. He has one arb year left after this two year deal iirc. thats true, he will be getting a significant raise after next season before becoming a free agent, no way the Jays allocate $100M+ to 4 players
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 2018 FA class is just friggen loaded. I knew it was good but looked up the list of players today and couldn't believe it. http://sportsrants.com/mlb/2016/02/21/looking-ahead-2018-mlb-free-agents/
Gary Verified Member Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 Cleveland won't be paying 25 million for any player Texas and Toronto make most sense to me.

Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted November 22, 2016 Posted November 22, 2016 JD best two years are likely the next 2, it will be downhill from there. He will be 33. You want to pay for his 33 to age 39 years? depends has he been durable is he still producing is there room in the budget what other options are there but if EE is signed multi year it is highly unlikely Jays have the budget room for JD
