Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 Cubs could advance to the World Series with a win tonight. 3-0 Cubs and EVERYTHING has been hit hard off Kershaw.
EdwinsParrot Old-Timey Member Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 Looking good for the cubs
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted October 23, 2016 Author Posted October 23, 2016 John Smoltz is a fantastic colour guy. Bringing up the Cubs' pitchers good exit velocity allowed.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 Kershaw choking You're are incredibly ignorant.
Mowich Verified Member Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 5 zip Cubbies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ha, ha Kershaw...........who looks like the better pitcher now Dodgers. GO CUBBIES GO!
Mittens87 Verified Member Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 You're are incredibly ignorant. Oh sorry he is pitching great right? f***ing idiot lol
ChrisS Verified Member Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 Oh sorry he is pitching great right? f***ing idiot lol I wouldn't really say he is choking. You just have to give a ton of credit to the Cubs. They look like a team on a mission, it just feels like their year.
Mittens87 Verified Member Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 (edited) Doesn't matter. Sure he pitched well in game 2 but people are results based and everyone will remember this performance, not where he shut down the Cubs a few games ago. Maybe it's the cold but just not pitching like he can. Sad but can't feel bad for him What would you consider choking then ? The Rangers starting pitchers didn't choke we were on a mission? Every pitcher makes a few mistakes but sometimes get lucky. He hasn't executed most pitches like he usually can Edited October 23, 2016 by Mittens87
Dr Negative Verified Member Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 This may sound absolutely ridiculous, but when you are facing a pitcher who is absolutely dealing like Hendricks is and you are losing is there a case for IBBing him? I don't know if there are any stats about how pitchers do after having to run the basepaths.

Off intuition, that just seems like an awful idea, you're IBB'ing an awful hitter to turn over the top of the lineup and risking digging a deeper hole for yourself.
Mittens87 Verified Member Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 Cold weather helps the pitcher. Maybe not a guy who pitches most games in LA heat and not very often in October? How does cold help? Seems like cold maybe numb fingers wouldn't be nice to pitch with

Seems like cold maybe numb fingers wouldn't be nice to pitch with It doesn't help the pitchers, it hurts the hitters more. Also, LA is just as hot as Toronto or New York in the summer...
Mittens87 Verified Member Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 I'm just guessing but the ball doesn't carry well in the cold?
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 I'm just guessing but the ball doesn't carry well in the cold? Have you ever tried to bat in the cold? f***ing hurts if you don't catch it flush on the barrel.
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 man to think we almost has chapman
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 Ugh I hate Joe Buck. The least descriptive play by play guy who ever existed. *Silence* *Pitch thrown* *Batter swings and misses for strike three* *Crowd cheers* "ONE AWAY!!" *Silence for like 15 seconds* I get its because Joe Buck doesn't know any single thing about baseball, but Jesus Christ, stop giving him these prime games in that case.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 I'm just guessing but the ball doesn't carry well in the cold? Yes. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=17249
Mowich Verified Member Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 Yee haw cubbies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
dineke Old-Timey Member Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 i hope the blue jays wont go on a 100 year streak of not winning th ws.
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 The last time the Cubs won the WS was also the year the North Pole had been reached by man. Also, there was no TV so this will be the first time a Cubs WS will be televised. Theodore Roosevelt was the President at the time.
Mittens87 Verified Member Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 Have you ever tried to bat in the cold? f***ing hurts if you don't catch it flush on the barrel. Was hitting some balls last weekend yea definitely kills the hands more than I realized especially not wearing gloves.
Mittens87 Verified Member Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 i hope the blue jays wont go on a 100 year streak of not winning th ws. Probably won't happen. I don't think the owners were as dedicated to winning before. Blue jays will have to stay competitive or Rogers will be empty like it was a few years ago. Is the extra attendance and the extra tv ratings worth the extra 50 million in payroll?

Its called letting the crowd speak. That was actually great IMO, and lots of others agree.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 If Scully did the same thing everyone would be praising him for it.
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 Scully is f***in 90 and still brings more energy, character, and fun than Joe Buck on his best night. Buck just states hype moments as if they just happen apart from anything else on the field. He might be the worst sports announcer I can think of.
thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted October 23, 2016 Posted October 23, 2016 (edited) Bartman should throw out one of the first pitches. The guy deserves some redemption when he almost became a victim of mob rule in 2003. Edited October 23, 2016 by thatoneguy
