HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 I know it's hard to think of it from plebs like us, but the difference between 80 million and 100 or 115 million isn't really all that much, especially for a guy who has already made 8 figures in his career. He should've took the money from a team he felt comfortable with. It was a competitive offer anyway. He just got greedy. It's a different story when you make league min and then get an 8 figure contract
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Apparently I just read that no team is willing to give Edwin 3/$60M and that his agent is in "wait and see" mode. Sucks for them that they declined the 4/$80M offer, and its funny how lots of people on here were yelling that we were penny pinching and boston/others will offer $100M+ for him. Also apparently his agent is in shock on how fast we moved on and in the span of like 2 weeks we signed two 1B ready players lmao
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 the difference between 80 million and 100 or 115 million isn't really all that much Yes it is.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 I feel sorry for Edwin. He wanted to be a Blue Jay and got a great offer. But his agent and friends probably convinced he could get a massive deal and that's just not going to happen for him. That reminds me of a few years ago with Stephen Drew and Boras where Boras said no to every deal he believed was low and the guy didn't even sign until after opening day. Made Drew decline the $14M QO from Boston then sign with Boston for $10M on a one year deal after April lmfao
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 refreshing to see some exact details. AA would simply say "We're talking"

fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Shapiro on the air: Need Quality Backup catcher Need BP arms (we got lucky with mid-season additions) Need OFer, also added that doesnt need to be an EVERYDAY player. Can be platoon to complement the players they have (Aka platoon parter for Upton) Not that much resources left to make that many moves (FA I'm assuming?) but they're "fluid"
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Shapiro on the air: Need Quality Backup catcher - Ianetta pls Need BP arms (we got lucky with mid-season additions) - Ziegler/Holland/Feliz/Logan pls ------------

Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 I think we need one everyday player and one platoon partner. Every day RF & a platoon partner for Upton in left, though we could see Pearce in left.
jaysguy44 Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Prediction for the rest of the off-season. Fowler Ianetta Ziegler Logan S Smith
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Every day RF & a platoon partner for Upton in left, though we could see Pearce in left. Oh god did he say we only need one OF because he's going with Pearce in the OF and Smoak full-time at 1B?
bzapple Verified Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 It's interesting how teams are starting to get away from spending big on free agent sluggers. Even a few years ago Edwin probably tops $100M easily.

BTS Community Moderator Posted December 7, 2016 Author Posted December 7, 2016 Prediction for the rest of the off-season. Fowler Ianetta Ziegler Logan S Smith You think payroll is going to 180M?
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 If Bautista end up true. Why don't they just pony up some money, sign Edwin for 1 year and put him at 1B and Pearce in LF. We have a good lineup again and Edwin can sign with no draft pick attached next season

HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 Don't they have an outfield glut? This opens up Blackmon
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 boom Interesting. Where does he play? They have a lot of OF. Do they move Cargo to 1B?
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted December 7, 2016 Posted December 7, 2016 boom Lol Bowden with a whiff on that one. I wonder if the Rockies will now turn around and sell high on Blackmon.
