Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2016 Posted October 21, 2016 Rasiel Iglesias is someone i'd love to target. Moved to the bullpen this past season and was pretty damn good. I believe they did that to save his arm... if you heard different, I'm all in.
Ziggyy108 Verified Member Posted October 21, 2016 Posted October 21, 2016 Adam Eaton would be a great fit, though no chance in hell the White Sox trade him. I don't know about that ... I think they would.

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2016 Posted October 21, 2016 Greg Holland is coming back from TJ and is a FA. Might be worth a flyer.

Blitz Verified Member Posted October 21, 2016 Posted October 21, 2016 My ideal moves for the offseason would look like this... (I'm assuming Edwin ends up in BOS for ridiculous $$$) 1. Trade for Votto, probably costs something involving Travis or Stroman + which I'm totally fine with honestly... an above average 1B with a career .313 AVG & a .425 OBP from the left side is exactly what this roster needed for 2016 and didn't have.... and for those questioning his fielding he had a .994 fld% in 158gms this year... so shut it. 2. If the Mets end up having to re-sign Cespedes after his opt-out & decline Jay Bruce's $13m option that's who I go after to play RF, however would also be interested in Reddick for a 3yr term... 3. If Edwin can be resigned, this is his spot, if not I'm looking at an economical body on a short deal here... a guy like Morneau, or Alvarez... maybe even Colabello if he can get his act together 4. Rotation is fine, even if Stro were dealt, I think Biagini challenges for a rotation spot next year anyhow.. Sanchez, Happ, Estrada, Liraino, Biagini still looks pretty good... re; bullpen, if Cecils ask is reasonable, sign him.. if not look at Boone Logan as a nice lefty option.

Fielding percentage is a terrible way to evaluate a defensive player. You could probably put Martin at SS and he'd put up a similar percentage to all other players, but he wouldn't get to nearly as many balls. That said, Votto's year defensively last year was probably an aberration. I wouldn't pay a ton to get him since you're already taking on a very large contract that could be real ugly towards the end (certainly not Stroman, it would have to come more from the prospect side imo).

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted October 21, 2016 Posted October 21, 2016 Darvish Exacty what I was going to post Get high hopes we get disappointed (Darvish, Chapman, Votto) Expect little we get pleasantly suprised (Donaldso, Tulo, Price)
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2016 Posted October 21, 2016 Joey Votto's AAV isn't that bad actually but holy s*** does his contract run long. I'd be really nervous taking that deal on.

BTS Community Moderator Posted October 21, 2016 Author Posted October 21, 2016 If you squint really hard and don't buy his -10 defense, Bruce isn't that gross on something like a 1/8 deal. He's basically Saunders.
thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2016 Posted October 21, 2016 Greg Holland is coming back from TJ and is a FA. Might be worth a flyer. 3 consecutive 2+ WAR seasons as a reliever before he went down. Yes please.

He's basically Saunders. Some team desperate for power will probably give Bruce a 1/15 type of deal in a weak market. Probably was in line for a 4/5 year deal before his struggles with the Mets down the stretch.

THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2016 Posted October 21, 2016 People are going to be let down when Votto doesn't come here I don't want Votto at all with what he'd cost. I doubt Shatkins would either.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2016 Posted October 21, 2016 http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/against-the-idea-of-the-blue-jays-rebuilding/ This sentence really caught my attention from the Sullivan article: The Blue Jays’ current roster doesn’t feature a lot of depth, unless you’re a huge, huge fan of Ryan Goins. It's like he knows us.

Sounds like a recipe for a replacement level shitbag.
