intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 I went to 5 games this year (4 with my 6 year old son). 1. 11-10 comeback v. Red Sox (Travis beats out throw from Shaw). Incredible game. My son's first ever Jays game. I'll never forget it. We rocked the rally caps late in the game and they actually worked. When you're 6 - magic is real and it was that day. 2. Canada Day game for my son's birthday. We lost, but it was an awesome day. The pre-game activities were awesome, the game was exciting and my son sat on the edge of his seat for 12 full innings before we had to bail to catch the train home. We decided that day we'll go to the Canada Day game every year now for his birthday. Bonding doesn't get much better than that. 3. 12:30 Wednesday afternoon start v. TB in September. Son took me for my birthday. 21st row behind home plate. Best seats I've ever had. Terrible ball game. A dud. 4. Wild Card game (only game I didn't take my son). Edwing. Enough said. Unreal. 5. Game 4 ALCS. Took my son to the aquarium before the game (nobody was there as it was a school day). Amazing place, amazing game. All in all - 4 of the 5 games I went to were simply amazing experiences. This is a year I won't soon forget. I was there too. It was my girlfriend's birthday and I had reservations and a surprise party with 30 people set up at the Keg Mansion. Nearing the end of the game I kept getting texts about people being late, so I was starting to worry we'd arrive before most of everyone else and it would be semi-ruined. Then the Jays came back which was not only amazing in its own right but also delayed us enough time for the whole party to arrive by the time we got there. Also, got to see one last David Ortiz home run. Amazing game. Shame I didn't get to another one this year. Other great games were the comebacks against San Diego and New York. Obviously the (good) playoff games too. Also: -Taking 3 of 4 from the Orioles early in the season, including one game with an Eddy walk off HR. -The 8th inning rally against the Tigers in the last series of the first half (Tulo being the hero with a 2-run go-ahead single after being the goat so many times early on). -Aaron Sanchez's incredible effort in the season finale to not only help clinch the WC advantage but to force the Sox to start the postseason in Cleveland. -Arnold Leon facing Steven Souza in the fourth game of the year (well, at least it's memorable).
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 Another one I remember, Aaron Sanchez's absolute domination of the Tigers in June, only allowed 1 hit thru 8 and struck out 12. But they lost the game. That was probably the best pitched game I've seen by a Jays pitcher since Brandon Morrow in 2010.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 don't forget Saunders' 3 homer game.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 Spanky connects with me and my fam to watch a Jays Win Running into Puig and Justin Turner at the Aquarium after a game with LAD. Chatted and they signed ball/hat for my son who pretty excited to see them in their civvies. Holy f*** Spanky - you look exactly how I thought (in my head) you would. Awesome bud!
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 Holy f*** Spanky - you look exactly how I thought (in my head) you would. Awesome bud! lol... did you picture hair halfway down my back?
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 Trading for Josh Donaldson. Dude... we traded for Donaldson in 14'?
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 Holy f*** Spanky - you look exactly how I thought (in my head) you would. Awesome bud! Spanky is Spanky. Good guy. Just like I pictured too. And he wears a "Stieb" jersey which tells you how long he has been a true blue Jays fan.

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 The silencing of the Sanchize haters Give it up, even you didn't see this type of year, meathead. No one did.

You're right Spanky...but it was simply amazing to watch this guy who most (with good reason) assumed would fail miserably develop into one of the best pitchers in the AL - and one we certainly will count on to lead the rotation for years to come.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 The silencing of the Sanchize haters Could say the same about Zeke. Who on earth thought we'd actually WANT to see Zeke in the starting lineup during the playoffs - let alone calls for him to move up in the lineup as he's been one of our only producers! I mean we'll have to beat down the casual this offseason when they suggest he deserves a starting role, but whatever.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 I enjoyed watching Goins fail miserably to finally end the discussion as to whether he can stick or not. Gruber was finally defeated.

Yeah, in that poll thread, I put Sanchez as a future 3/4 I believe... didn't see this type of success, and definitely not this quickly. Colour me "happy as a pig in s***"!!!
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 Give it up, even you didn't see this type of year, meathead. No one did. True. But was happy the haters was silenced. I was getting tired of arguing with them.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 True. But was happy the haters was silenced. I was getting tired of arguing with them. Fair enough.
wk680 Verified Member Posted October 21, 2016 Posted October 21, 2016 Hi guys - only my 2nd post here, and after a couple days, I'm on my way to getting over the disappointment of the ALCS and looking forward to 2017. BUT, after a generally frustrating up and down season: for 9 days (Oct 1 - 9) the Jays went 6-0, and they had the pundits starting to say 'oh oh' look out for the Jays. While the ALDS sweep over the rival Rangers and WC walk off win were great, for me it was games 161 and 162. Must win in Boston, and they pulled off back to back 1 run victories while holding that potent offense to 4 total runs over those games. Particularly memorable for me was game 161, where Boston tied it on the Osuna balk in the 8th, only to have the Jays score on Kimbrel in the 9th to retake the lead. Then Osuna gutted it out for the win, ultimately recording the final 6 outs with no hits allowed (even though he was almost the goat). I was left dazed and almost in disbelief when it was over. Too bad the hot streak lead to a 4 day lay off and they lost their mojo along the way.
