fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 I won't miss Bautista one bit. You're crazy. Second best batter in Jays history. He's getting on the level of excellence

Inklink Old-Timey Member Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 End of an era folks. 2 ALCS in a row is nothing to sneeze at, but the way they sputtered out both times is not fun to watch. Time for players who do more than they say, I guess. Hope Eddy is back. Jose, you were a legend, but time to move on if you want more than 2 years. I would've liked to see some fight in the team but you can't take anything away from the opponent either. Hope they get pummeled in the WS though

WOW. I thought he was still trailing Fernandez, mind you with 400 games played less than Delgado and Fernandez. People who s*** on him should be ashamed. He was the sole reason to watch the Blue Jays in each of the 2010-2014 seasons. Could have had the MVP award in 2011 too, amazing guy and a good leader when this team needed one.
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 The biggest regret we should have as Blue Jays fans is he didn't get started a few months earlier. If he had that might have been enough offense to convince Halladay to stay. Imagine how the team would have been with Roy still on it in 2010.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 I won't miss Bautista one bit. I'll be so happy when the casuals crawl back into their holes and f*** off
CJ-Freeway Old-Timey Member Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 That bat flip was the most epic thing that I have ever watched on TV. I'll never forget that moment, even when I'm old and grey.

Wow...looked at Robbie Alomar on that list; how does he have a negative defence WAR? That's ridiculous.
MunenoriKawasakiMVP Verified Member Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 Baseball is really the sport that leaves you the most bitter/sad when the team you root for loses in the playoff. 171 games of fun is alot to deal with emotionally.
Captain Adama Old-Timey Member Posted October 19, 2016 Posted October 19, 2016 Wow...looked at Robbie Alomar on that list; how does he have a negative defence WAR? That's ridiculous. Probably a combo of modern metrics not being the most accurate recalling older players and him being overrated defensively.
Belliss101 Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 Cheer up friends. Only 165 days until our next blue Jays meaningful action!
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 Wow...looked at Robbie Alomar on that list; how does he have a negative defence WAR? That's ridiculous. Joe Carter isn't even on that page... he is on the next. Carter gets beat by Hinske and Lawrie...
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 Tough way to end things. I felt we were setup well too push this series further. I'm confident in our management to produce a roster good enough to compete again. As always it's nice to banter back and forth with you guys. The good and the bad. Hopefully its an enjoyable off-season.
Hipfan Verified Member Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 Probably a combo of modern metrics not being the most accurate recalling older players and him being overrated defensively. So I'm not being snarky or anything, this is a genuine question: did you watch Alomar play? I find it hard to to overrate him defensively. He was regarded as the top second baseman in the game, defensively, during his time in Toronto.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 Probably a combo of modern metrics not being the most accurate recalling older players and him being overrated defensively. They're not modern. Anything before 2002 is a s***** Retrosheet UZR proxy that shouldn't be taken seriously.

I find it hard to to overrate him defensively. He was regarded as the top second baseman in the game, defensively, during his time in Toronto. When I lived in Chicago I had the pleasure to watch Sandberg play all the time and he was amazing but Alomar is the finest second baseman I have ever seen play.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 Good season, bad series Indians are just on a tear and Miller is a one man wrecking machine buzz saw who I wish had been traded to a NL team
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 I feel like 6 out of 10 times the Jays roster beats the Indians roster as was constructed for this series Random thoughts: We should have gotten to their starters Our starting rotation was much better than theirs Lindor is f'n awesome They have a better manager

Everyone was trying to hit the 5 run home run instead of just trying to put the ball in play. That killed the offence.
Praxis Verified Member Posted October 20, 2016 Posted October 20, 2016 I'm not going to complain about this season. I wasn't convinced we would even get as far as the ALCS, which in an odd way makes losing to a depleted Indians lineup kind of suck, but still. After 20 years of utter futility I'll take these last two seasons in a heartbeat. Looking forward I'm not particularly relishing the prospect of Billy Butler as our next DH, but I'll take Josh Reddick as our new RF please. Also, Brandon Moss might be a nice pick up in LF.
