KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 It seemed to me like a lot of the Jays baserunners came with 2 outs. Didn't seem like the scoring opportunities were all that great after the 1st.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 Anyone else catch Jonah Keri ask the Tulo/Martin question? Gibby shot it down.

Vegasdogg Verified Member Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 Anyone who thinks the Indians have fareweather fans is wrong. At one point we set the MLB record for consecutive sellouts. We had some up and down years since the 97 World Series and Francona is reviving that fan base. But when the team consistently refuses to raise payroll because the owner doesn't spend money the fans tend to have a wait and see approach after so many letdowns. This is Cleveland sports we are talking about. But fareweather fans? Cleveland handle being called many, many things but fareweather is a new one for me. I literally have never been called that in my 47 years. LOL. Just crazy talk.
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 Man, Cleveland just played a pretty perfect ballgame. No mistakes at all, and they get the big hit from Lindor. What's your definition of playing a perfect ballgame though? They definitely pitched and gloved their asses off but they also didn't do much with the bats. They got the big hit but a perfect ballgame probably doesn't mean letting the oppo pitcher get a CG, right?

BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 I'm over it. Turned the page. Just win tomorrow. Let's go Jays!

I mean, there's a reason why two-out rallies are such momentum shifts.
admin Site Manager Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 I'm sure it's been discussed to death already, but a) how does Donaldson not score on that play in the first and Bau needs to put that ball in play at all costs. That being said tomorrow is a must win. Split the series and we have the advantage.

I dunno, it's always seemed really tidy to me when a team pitches well, makes no defensive or baserunning mistakes, and scratches across enough runs to win. Maybe perfect isn't the right word, but they played a clean ball game. They do a lot of that.

Yeah, I thought he'd score for sure, but you have to figure he was held both because of his hip and because you take the chance that Bautista gets him home with only one out.

Guess the 3rd base coach didn't see it
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 Positives: - Fresh bullpen for Toronto not for Cleveland - Saunders might be coming around - Kluber is their best starter pitcher and the Jays still manage to get some guy on base and create a few opportunities and on cold night with a tough strike zone. - It doesn't get much easier for the Cleveland hitters Negatives: - Martin still providing very little in the 5 spot and he's not going anywhere. - Travis... - Crying shame not to give Estrada run support.

Well Donaldson is playing on a busted hip and Bautista was the victim of a horrific call that changed the complexion of the at-bat (and the game in himdsight). Tough to blame either of them too much, Kluber made great pitches when he needed to.

I can't remember the bad call, but he looked silly when he did swing in that ab.
ComeTogether Verified Member Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 (edited) Anyone else catch Jonah Keri ask the Tulo/Martin question? Gibby shot it down. Yeah. Martin did get that hit to win the series vs rangers, granted it was an error. Martin is in a slump, but when he heats up, he does get big hits. Edited October 15, 2016 by ComeTogether
BlueRocky Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 538 had Cleveland winning game 1. For game 2, It's 50-50. http://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/2016-mlb-predictions/ Happ vs Tomlin is a 50/50? Wow.

Yeah, you don't really want to risk it with one out, but seemed like it should have been an easy score. I really thought Josh would slide to home plate after the ball rolled slowly off the wall. Guess the 3rd base coach didn't see it He better not have missed it, it's pretty much his job to see it. ------------------- Happ has a 4.5FIP on the road, I would have much rather gone with Stroman tomorrow.
havok24 Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 It's hard to even be upset about a loss like this. Just tip your cap to the Indians for playing an excellent ball game.
BTS Community Moderator Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 Series odds down to 58-42 in favour of Cleveland.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 What was the question and how did Gibby respond? I forget the phrasing but something like "With Martin struggling lately, it there any consideration being given to switching Tulowitzky and Martin". The answer was something like "No, mumble, mumble, teams doing well, mumble, mumble, you don't start changing things when the teams doing well, more mumbling."

Governator Community Moderator Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 Series odds down to 58-42 in favour of Cleveland. If someone told me last month we had a 42% chance of making the World Series I would have shat myself.

Maybe Martin needs to steal Pillar's bat. If Gibs doesn't switch him out, he better find his swing again. They won't have any chance this series if the 4th and 5th spot stays as a black hole

Like if Tulowitzki gets bumped up one spot in the lineup, is that supposed to mess with his head or something?
Mittens87 Verified Member Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 Bottom line is if we can't string 4 wins out of 6 against only 1 high quality pitcher we wouldn't do well against who ever makes it to World Series.
