I dont know where you guys get the myth that Tepera is really really s***. He ain't Osuna or Cecil but he did decent this year in limited time. He didn't allow one XBH vs righty in 40 ABs. That's decent.

Aside from the obvious lefty-lefty matchup, I think some of it might be that Odor is a big fastball hitter and that's a big part of Grilli's game. Cecil and his wipeout breaking ball is the ideal call here against Odor.

Cecil didn't show anything lately that he was the best man to be there. Cecil walked Davis last week IIRC and Odor yesterday.

 

It worked out today, but I still don't like this move.

For me it wasn't being nervous about Cecil, but more that because it's tied I don't want to burn through relievers that quick. Of course if we just take the lead here it will become moot, but yeah.

How the hell do you know we're getting extras? You put in Grilli what if he give up the homer to Odor and we drop the game? What's the extra arms help us for then? You play all 9 innings first then you worry about Extras, this is why we have Tepera, Feldman and Barnes
