baseball player 3.0 Verified Member Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 Ortiz pinch run looks so bad now. I never understand why managers take their good hitters out of the game for pinch runners when chances are there spot is going to come up in the lineup again in a crucial situation. Gibby did this a couple times this year with EE and bats and it cost us.
Leafs2726 Verified Member Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 Farrell won't survive this. He was lucky to be managing this year alone. He will be fired.
jkun41 Verified Member Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 f*** the Red Sox. Baltimore wildcard loss, Texas and Boston swept. I feel like a kid on Christmas. Will be nice to not have to see the broadcast booth obsess over Ortiz anymore.

RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 Cleveland vs Toronto just like in Basketball! Is that the first time that has happened? A conference final with the same cities than an League Championship final with the same cities. ?
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 All that money wasted on Price I wouldn't call it wasted. Probably Next Year Redsox start off as favourites to win the WS. They have ridiculously good positional players, if they add one more starter.
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 Worth noting that the series win by the Jays forced the Sox to play two in Cleveland. Toronto is directly or partially responsible for heartbreaks in Baltimore, Texas, and Boston. Worth noting: after that 11-game winning streak, the Sox won one of their last nine games, including this series.

John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 Suck it Ortiz, .472 OPS Clutch

FireAlexAnthopoulos Verified Member Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 f*** David Ortiz... ...for a career full of steroid use (and denying it). ...for whining to umpires. ...for whining to the scorers about his stats. ...for interrupting his manager's press conferences to whine even more about his stats. ...for throwing bats at umpires and destroying dugout phones. ...for doing an annoying-ass retirement tour after swearing he never would. ...for getting a pass on all of this from the league and fans while Bautista gets villainized for less. f*** you, David Ortiz!
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 Suck it Ortiz, .472 OPS Clutch He's got enough clutch in the bank to make up for a dozen series like this. A fantastic career and I respect him a lot, but not his teammates or fans.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 It very well could of though. What if it went to extras tied? I understand the argument, but on the other hand, what if Hanley rips a single into the outfield and the Red Sox don't tie the game because Ortiz was on base? It's a risky decision but it's not like leaving Ubaldo in favour of Zach Britton kind of bad.
jkun41 Verified Member Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 It will be a complete cock slobber over Cleveland in that series against us lol. Agreed, but none of the faces on Cleveland annoy me as much as Ortiz, or Pedroia's. Or Kimbrel's gorilla stance before a pitch. I'm also happy the Jays go against someone in an identical situation. Sweep with 4-5 days rest. No excuses about being rusty.

I remember when some posters were calling the Red Sox unbeatable during their winning streak, and the Blue Jays were choking. Funny how that works.

Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 You don't respect Dustin Pedroia? There's probably no player unequivocally deserving of league wide respect as Dustin Pedroia. What a gamer.

Also considering it was his last game and the hate he would get if they did tie it and his spot came up again with a chance to walk it off.

King Old-Timey Member Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 There's probably no player unequivocally deserving of league wide respect as Dustin Pedroia. What a gamer. Great talent! Guy has a plan every pitch and every at bat. Hard not to respect what he's done in his career. Do you think he's a hall of famer if he retired tomorrow? Or does he have to put up 2 to 3 more 4-5 fWAR seasons?
FireAlexAnthopoulos Verified Member Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 You don't respect Dustin Pedroia? He's slightly more respectable than that massive prick Ortiz, but not by much.
