Bracket means this year's record against that team

Toronto (Home 7, Road 3)

4 vs NYY (9-6)

3 vs BAL (9-7)

3 at BOS (8-8)

If they go at least 4-3 or 5-2 in the 7 game home stand, they will secure the wild card spot.

Detroit (Home 7, Road 3)

3 vs KC (6-10)

4 vs CLE (2-13????)

3 at ATL (NR)

They also have 7 game homestand, but they are not good against the Royals and terrible against the Indians... They need to win at least 3 or 4.. and looks like they are gonna sweep their last three games against the Braves

Baltimore (Home 3, Road 6)

3 vs ARI (NR)

3 at TOR (7-9)

3 at NYY (8-8)

Easy three games series against the Dbacks, but they need to finish strong since their final 6 games are all on the road.

Houston

4 vs LAA (11-1, not including today.. They lost though)

3 vs SEA (10-6)

3 at LAA (11-1)

Looks like they got the easiest schedule... 7 games against the team they dominated this year..

However, they have a key series against the Mariners..

Seattle

3 at MIN (0-3)

3 at HOU (6-10)

4 vs OAK (10-5)

They need to sweep the Twins before facing the Astros.

New York Yankees

4 at TOR (6-9)

3 vs BOS (5-11)

3 vs BAL (8-8)

If they lose series in Toronto, It is safe to say that they are out!!

I think the Yankees are done, they realistically need to go at minimum 8-2, maybe even 9-1.

We also hold the tie-breaker over Detroit and Houston. Provided we win one game against the Yankees and Orioles we will hold the tie-breaker with them also (If we cant win at least one against both of them we wouldnt make the post-season anyway.

My predictions.

Jays go 5-5 and finish 88-74

Baltimore goes 5-4 and finishes 87-75

Detroit goes 6-4 and finishes 88-74

Houston goes 6-3 and finishes 87-75

Seattle goes 6-4 and finishes 86-76

Jays play Detroit in the WC game at Home.

His post was informative though, it makes it easier to digest the whole thing than just looking at odds.

I know... just adding content. Seemed odd his Asian accent laden posts didn't show up in this post, though, lol,

I think if the Blue Jays are at least 4-3 during the home stand, they will make it..

If they do even better, they will clinch the first place on the wildcard, which guarantees home game for potential one game playoff.

Plus, I think the Red Sox will clinch the division before the last series.

Yankees *are* done, no realistic chance. They've played even way worse than we have

2 of Jays, Orioles, Tigers, Mariners and Astros will make it

After this weekend at least one of those teams will fall out of contention

Posted

So I guess the rotation shakes out like this:

Vs NY: Liriano, Stroman, Estrada, Happ

Vs BAL: Sanchez, Liriano, Stroman

Vs BOS: Estrada, Happ, Sanchez

If the Jays clinch a WC spot before the last game of the season, do they save Sanchez for the WC game or go with Stro?

Chances are this will go down to the wire and either the Jays miss the playoffs or Stroman starts the WC game, which is a damn scary thought.

If the last game of the season is meaningless (it is possible), then they can let Dickey throw one for old time sake and use Sanchez or Stro.

If the Yankees sweep the jays they will only be one game out. They are not done at all.

Only if Seattle Houston and Baltimore also all somehow manage to lose all weekend

If we win the top WC spot and there is a tie for the 2nd spot that would be swell. I believe they have to play a tie breaker game to get in the WC game which could be a big advantage.

Who do you think would start the Wild Card Game if that's where Toronto finishes?

-- Shawn S., Rochester, N.Y.

The starter for that game would depend entirely on how the Blue Jays finish the season, but the most likely candidate appears to be Aaron Sanchez. Toronto's rotation is currently lined up to feature Marco Estrada, J.A. Happ and Sanchez, in that order, for the final regular-season series of the year in Boston.

Sanchez is tentatively scheduled for the last game on Sunday, Oct. 2, but if the matchup does not matter in the standings, he would be pushed back for Tuesday's potential American League Wild Card Game. If the Blue Jays need to go all hands on deck vs. the Red Sox, then it's possible Estrada could be brought back on three days' rest, but that seems unlikely at this point.

Posted
There is potential for a game to determine a 2nd wildcard position which if the Jays had 1st place tied up would amount for 3 days rest for the pitching staff?.....The starting pitcher would be a tough call and could see Happ which I am good with.

I'd love to see the Jays win WC1 and a three way tie for WC2

2013 the Rays won the tiebreaker game on the road and went on to win the WC game as well. Granted they had Price and Cobb going in those games. Went on to lose 3-1 to Sox in DS.

Basically the pitching matchup is historically huge, last year the Stros had Kuechel lined up and the Yanks didn't have a chance.

I think we'd have the pitching advantage against the Orioles for sure. If it's the Tigers they might lineup Verlander for the WC game.

Hopefully Detroit has to use Verlander in a big game before the WC

Post-Season schedule...

http://m.mlb.com/postseason-schedule

So a two-way tie for WC2 gets played Monday. A three-way tie and they have to improvise the schedule. And a four-way tie and the league probably says f*** it and just gives WC1 the win :P

Regardless of how the Jays fair in all of this, that would be pretty cool as a baseball fan to see how a multiple tie breaker scenario plays out.

Yes I remember watching the awful Tanaka and Kuechel. The Yankees had no chance at all.. because of this event.

The awful Tanaka gave up 2 runs... it was so bad... unbelievable, what a mismatch.

c'mon.. that is f***ing ridiculous... it didn't matter that much, anything can happen in one game. Tanaka could of easily of won as well.

That'd be funny, highly unlikely. Notice that Division Leaders could be anyone of the Rangers/Indians and Bosox... seeded at #1 against the WC winner.

Highly unlikely, but in any other year it would be even less likely. This might be the best chance we have in our lifetime to witness a 4-way tiebreaker for WC2. Plus a tiebreaker in the NL as well. At least one tie breaker would be nice....as long as the Jays have WC1.

Didn't we allready get beat by Boyd?? Do you want to face Fulmer instead?? Even Norris is pitching well.

At this point is there really that much difference between any of Estrada, Happ, Sanchez, Fulmer, Verlander, and even Norris??

Other than the Irony if Norris and/or Boyd somehow screwed us??

The wild card game is a coin flip, and there are still coin flips to get to the coin flip

Boston Red Sox: We will build around youth, Bib Papi has served us well and deserves to go out on top, the only way to do that is to surround him with good young players.

AA and the Beast: f*** the young players, I hate them, youth must die, trade em all for a bat flip and a coin toss!
