Governator Community Moderator Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 I suggested Smoak because he's a 101 wRC+ vs RHP (both this year and on his career)..
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Today will not come down to Navarro being at DH. It will come down to whether or not Gallardo dominates us.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 At least Smoak can run into the occasional home run and walks at a solid clip. Navarro as a MLB player does literally nothing well. ftfy
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 ftfy At least he can arguably "call a good game" for what little that's worth.
ChrisS Verified Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Now is not the time to be messing around, no reason to have Navarro in with the way he has been hitting this year, especially considering Melvin has been swinging the bat well lately and has way more speed. I hope we are proved wrong about the decision..
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 At least he can arguably "call a good game" for what little that's worth. Yeah. Anyways in things we can quantify within reason he's terrible across the board.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 I don't understand the hatred of Dioner on this site? I understand he isn't God's gift to hitting, but he isn't atrocious he is s***.
Governator Community Moderator Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 If he hits one out tonight he'll be playing every game, rest of season.
Belliss101 Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 I want to win so much tonight that it hurts
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Hopefully Sanchez can be our guardian angel tonight.
Belliss101 Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Hopefully Sanchez can be our guardian angel tonight. Let's hope. Hopefully the extra rest doesn't make him sloppy
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Lets go Jays!!! would love a series win before leaving the butt hole of America in the rear view mirror
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Why the hell is Travis not leading off... and if you're going to rest Upton against a s***** RHP put Smoak in. Still looks good overall tbh. Travis is still hurt I think, he's been struggling at the plate of late so not that big of a deal to be hitting 9th. Navarro at DH on the other hand...
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Yeah Gibbons has to go at the end of the season. In no situation EVER should Navarro be DHing on this team.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Or he's a thought, maybe DH one of those pylons in the corner outfield and let Upton play over Navarro. Exactly. This is a f***ing joke and Gibbons needs to be canned after the season.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 I'm actually f***ing pissed. Gibbons is gonna run this team into the ground before we even reach the playoffs. Guys like Bautista/Edwin/Russell/Tulo should be getting some rest by DHing. Not Navarro. EVER. What a tool
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 It is a little funny though. We're batting someone who's 41% worse than a league average hitter at a position called "Designated HITTER" ...Well funny if you're an O's fan that is.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 With Gibbons as a Jays manager, Navarro's trade was a bad idea.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Why are baseball managers so dumb? Navarro at DH, Reimold in CF, Tommy Hunter pitching in the 8th in a close game... Ugh.
Drumcliff Verified Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Why the hell is Travis not leading off... and if you're going to rest Upton against a s***** RHP put Smoak in. Still looks good overall tbh. My favourite Travis stat as a lead-off hitter this season: he has 103 official ABs leading off, and his next walk as a lead-off hitter will be his first.
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Navarro DHing is absurd. At least having Smoak at 1B means he might be able to pop one and play capable defense. But instead a terrible hitter (and back-up catcher) is going to be in the lineup at the cost of OF defense by forcing Bautista into RF.

intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 Meh. It's not like tonight's a big game. oh, wait.. This is going to be the last game I see for about two weeks. I might be able to catch the Friday game at the airport, but my flight is at 10.

JFD Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 I'll take Fatty over Smoak in the lineup any day.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 I'll take Fatty over Smoak in the lineup any day. Why?

Votto is like worth an extra win to the Jays, over other teams, cuz it prevents Gibbons from making moves like this... I think. If Jays Acquire Votto tonight, probably Navarro DHs again Friday, and EE sits - "ya know.. Eddie hasn't got much time off, and Votto is a real good hitter, and Navarro too, always been a good guy, so just tonight we'll let Eddy have a breather, and get Navarro in there, he's always been real good for us, and Votto too, we're glad to have him and Navarro, great guys, they can hit." WTF?????

Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 I'll take Fatty over Smoak in the lineup any day. Ok, but would you take Navarro at DH over Upton in the OF?
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2016 Posted August 31, 2016 read page 2 If we'd had Navarro all year and the team re-acquired Smoak in the same way, we'd all be throwing confetti for at least getting a league average bat and glove in the lineup. I know the cop hat and cigar pic is meme-worthy, but are people just not looking at Navarro's numbers this year?
