West Texas Forever Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2016 Posted September 29, 2016 It's official. Tebow is going to be the greatest baseball player of all time. Breaks into the MLB at the tender age of 31.

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/tim-t...arn-from-them/ Interesting article on Tebow and MJ that raises this question: Was MJ's 1994 season in AA where he hit .202 with 21 extra base hits and a 22.9% strikeout rate after not playing the game for 14 years and no warm up in the AFL an epic failure or a great achievement? I always looked at it as a huge failure but looking back on it that's actually pretty damn good.
ChrisS Verified Member Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 Just curious, why is there so much hate for Tim Tebow. Granted, I dont watch Football at all but it seems like he is a likeable guy (although I dont agree with his stance on religion and a few things). He has earned over $10 million so its not like he needs money. He is very driven and also participates in a number of philanthropic causes.

Mostly because he sucks at every sport and gets more attention than someone of his skill level deserves. The Eric Hosmer effect.

He sucked so badly he won a Heisman Trophy, 2 BCS National Championships and led the 1-4 Broncos to the second round of the playoffs. The NFL hated him because he was too out front with his faith and they were more interested in promoting Michael Sam to an utterly undeserved draft pick. I stopped watching the NFL forever not long afterwards.

AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 I'm gonna stick with the fact that he just sucked. Lots of guys suck, it doesn't bring on the hate. Mostly people hate him, because he's too religious for their liking, particularly the militant atheists who automatically assume he's a moron, and equate displaying/talking about his faith with shoving it down their throats. Regardless of that, I admire anyone succesful who humbles themselves by trying something that they are 99.9% certain to fail in, even though they don't need the money and are certain to be ridiculed. It takes courage to do something like that.

Relative to other baseball players it looks bad, but to be at the top of one sport and have the courage to just go try another like that is incredible. And he he was good for the little amount of prep and time off he had.
Caper Verified Member Posted April 13, 2017 Posted April 13, 2017 I don't think Tebow has a shot to make the bigs. Needs to much time, missed to much time. But I bet he had a shot if he took it up at 20 or 21.

People don't think he deserves to be where he's at as most didn't even consider him a QB when he was a QB.
