Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 Because GIbbons is a f***ing idiot. I don't get why people always question lineup and bullpen decisions. Gibbons has been making stupid decisions for a long time. Luckily he has a talented team or he'd been fired long ago. I just worry about September callups, Gibbons like his new shiny toys, so these guys will all be coming in in close game situations. Can't wait. If the decisions are bad, aren't we right to question them? I agree that no one should be surprised when Gibby makes a weird decision, but you think everyone should just ignore it?
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 Sure but Pillar could do the same thing in the 9 hole. Hes not quite as fast but Pillar can definitely run. I agree and Pillar should be batting ninth.

I just meant Gibbons is a f***ing idiot and makes stupid decisions on a regularly basis and no one should be surprised when they see a ridiculous lineup or bullpen move. Of course we should question it. I like to think Shapiro is a smart enough man that he has to sit up there thinking, "What the f*** is this guy doing?", half the time.
Sammy225 Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 My God their outfield D is Horrific though.
o2cui2i Community Moderator Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 True, but Upton or Pillar for that fact, can score from first at a higher success rate on gap shots than than anyone else batting ninth. Actually, Pillar batting ninth and Travis seventh would make more sense. I do understand the mentality Travis hitting ninth. He gets on base well and that's a good reason to have him hit first, but that might take 1 AB away from Jose, JD or EE and you want your best hitters to get as many AB as possible. Martin is on a tear so that's fine. then you go to Travis 9th because there is a good chance he is on base when those top 3 come up without taking away one of their AB

JFD Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 I don't care about Travis batting 9th but why is Smoak in the lineup?
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 Just bunch all the best guys above the worse guys so they get more consecutive ABs. This shouldn't be such an overthought decision.

True, but Bautista isn't his normal self yet, Travis would be just as dangerous currently with men on. I guess it's a good problem to have when a 10 year old kid can put up a decent line up when we're healthy.

I just hope he can adjust if that changes. I'm with JFD. the only mistake is Smoak being in the lineup instead of Navarro. Maybe Ed needs a night at DH. that would make sense. He's played a lot of first. Maybe Smoak can build off his last couple of hits.

Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 This would be a good time for the return of Acetrada.

intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 Wow. Same pitch. Can the ump at least not be the most incompetent guy on the field?
EdwinsParrot Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 Same pitch basically dumb freakin ump
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 Same pitch, Blue? exact same pitch....and he rings him up. clown umps. I hope he gives Marco those too.
thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted August 29, 2016 Posted August 29, 2016 Why does it seem like there is always questionable/terrible umpiring in Jays/Orioles series?
