Why does The Fan let John Shannon talk baseball?

Listen around the 10 minute mark. They are talking about A-Rod. At around 10:45 John Shannon wonders if the Yankees are treating A-Rod nice so that a team will take him in the off season and Yankees can rid themselves of the rest of his contract. He says something like this almost anytime he talks about baseball. When Bautista was on the DL last time Shannon wondered aloud if was his defense they will miss the most.

Fan 590 is for Hockey and they sometimes have good NFL Football discussion depending on the guests. That's what those shows are for the guests.

Bobcat is the worst on baseball. His diatribe on sabermetrics these past few days has been especially cringe-worthy.

 

Apparently Saber is just 'geeks' taking the stats that have 'always existed' and just crunching them into one number that is easy to compare.

 

He framed it this way multiple times. Someone confident has to get on the show and make sure he understand how f***ing stupid it makes him look to so confidently strawman (I honestly think unintentionally b/c he's dumb) what saber guys are saying.

If you guys are listening to either The FAN, or TSN Radio looking for comprehensive baseball insight then you're the problem. They're for the casual fan... Agreed, but still worth pointing out how dumb they all are. I miss T&S because they were by far the funniest. Still didn't know WTF they were talking about (in baseball for sure), but funny.

 

Now all we have is the Walker show (was better with Brady too). Guy is just boring. Best part of the segment is when his producer comes on with him. I think he needs someone to play off of to be effective.

Are there any good blue jay centric podcasts? I'm pretty sure BNS has a one not sure if it's Jays centric though. I generally don't take anything anyone says on PTS as gospel but the Jays do seem to have some decent "insiders". I like Davidi,Zwelling and BNS.

 

What happened to Brunt as well? I could stand him but he doesn't seem to be in lately

I've been a TSN disciple for a while now. Bryan Hayes is IMHO the very best sports host in Toronto.
