The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 Just start piggybacking him with someone. Someone like Estrada, who could use a little bit of rest himself.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 Someone like Estrada, who could use a little bit of rest himself. Or Dickey who could use less time sucking. It would also be an interesting way to f*** with opposing lineups. 3-4 innings each of our hardest throwing starter and the knuckleballer. In-game Dickey effect. I'm actually being serious

BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 I believe it's something like a 50% innings increase each year is considered safe. Sanchez pitched 92 innings last year, which means the danger zone is 138. He's already over that. If Fulmer pitched 124 last year, 186 would be his danger zone. Which is what the Tigers front office is saying. Going by this Rule then if you wanna use it as the Hard Fast Rule, then what Stroman would be way way over his innings limit and at Greater Risk of Injury then Shanchez! This Ain't f***ing Burger King you can't have it your way! Or both ways less Bi or Bi polar! Lol
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 Jays also have several off days coming up, which is nice. BOS and BAL both still have 2 games to make up. Off days August 11, 18 and 22 Lots of flexibility for Gibby...
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 Everyone bringing up the Stroman vs Sanchez innings thing is dumb as a box of nails. Stroman pitched 130 innings in 2014, and had a LEG injury last year. He kept throwing/kept his arm in shape while rehabbing his knee.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 But that means we'll be seeing Thole in a game and a half every 5 days Umm no? That half a game would count as Dickey's start...
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 Umm no? That half a game would count as Dickey's start... Yeah, it would just mean Thole catching Sanchez some, on a day Thole was going to be a black hole at the plate anyway
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 BTW, Martin has gradually upped his wRC+ to a semi-respectable 91 Thole is at.... um........ oh boy... 26

Stroman pitched 130 innings in 2014, and had a LEG injury last year. He kept throwing/kept his arm in shape while rehabbing his knee. But how much effort did he give with his throwing? I can't remember if it was his right or left knee but either way, you can't really drive if it was his right or land properly if it was his left. Meaning, he wasn't really gonna give his all. And if he was only throwing at 75% because of physical limitations, he's not going to put a lot of additional strain on his arm you'd think.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 BTW, Martin has gradually upped his wRC+ to a semi-respectable 91 Thole is at.... um........ oh boy... 26 Ya, Martin got off to a really crappy start. Take off the 1st month of the season it brings his wRC+ to 115 Remember when people were saying he was done during that 1st month?
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 Might not make the playoffs in the first place if you do that though Why??? As I see it you would still have a shot to win Two out three in most series !!!
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 Ya, Martin got off to a really crappy start. Take off the 1st month of the season it brings his wRC+ to 115 In April Martin was literally the worst or second worst qualified hitter in all of baseball. (Goins was the other) Very glad he's bounced back, though he's still striking out too much

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 Oh ya. But atleast he's getting on base. The strikeouts seem to be a team thing ATM

But again in 2014 Shanchez threw 134 inning, hence again more then Stroman!!! Again Shanchez did not have a injury last year either and I imagine he probably threw just as many or more practise innings keeping in game shape or warming and sides too! Plus the kicker being he threw more legit real game innings as well ! Sooooo Stangstag maybe you are the Dumb one here! Yup that sounds about right.
BigBounceyBlueBalls Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 Yeah, giving your circus starter the most of the remaining starts to keep your good ones healthy is not exactly optimizing a playoff run. Innings maintenance and WINNING are sort of at odds. You would have a normal rotation and a healthier one for the Last 20 games( em are the big ones), playoffs and World Series !!!

So which is it, Bi Polar much ???

Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 For some reason, I am starting to think that all the Sanchez will go to the pen stuff is to get out ahead of the outrage if it does happen. All while they are letting him pitch in a 6 man rotation until he shows signs that it's time to move to the pen...so possibly not at all.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 What a day. BBBB claiming to be smarter than me and the Blue Jays front office. Yes, the same BBBB that suggested Dickey should pitch every 4th day.
Filmstudy Verified Member Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 The best news in all of this is that Sanchez has been so f'n good that he's made this agonizing necessary. That's what I'm thinking too. If this is the Jays biggest problem, it's a hell of a good problem to have. The Orioles are actually in a very similar situation with Bundy who has suddenly become unhittable as he's reaching a prudent innings limit. Problem for the O's is that they probably can't make the playoffs without him and they can't win in the playoffs without him. At least the Jays have other options that don't drop off to replacement level.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 What a day. BBBB claiming to be smarter than me and the Blue Jays front office. Yeah, he's not smarter than the front office...
