Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 If the Jays are so concerned with Sanchez skip a few of his starts and bring Hutch up? Spread his innings out....we need Sanchez for the playoffs. You could just piggyback him with Hutch. Limit Sanchez to like 50 or 60 pitches a start, however far that gets him. It would still be easy to stretch him back out at the end of September at those pitch counts, and pitchers often get a quick hook in the playoffs anyway.

Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 Why haven't the Jays done this then? Hasn't been necessary to do it yet, so they might as well see what they can do at the deadline and then make a decision with all information available.
King Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 Mike Berardino @MikeBerardino 20s21 seconds ago #Jays special assignment scout Russ Bove is here w/ Ervin Santana on mound. Jays stars were ready to restructure in '14 for Ervin.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 Ervin Santana isn't even worth scouting. Never liked him
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 Ervin Santana isn't even worth scouting. Never liked him What if it's for a reliever this year and taking Dickey's spot next season....hopefully letting Dickey and Thole go is what's going to happen then
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 If he's better than Dickey and doesn't cost a lot. I won't complain. Otherwise no point. Even if it is, will Gibby take The Dick out of the rotation?
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 (edited) Even if it is, will Gibby take The Dick out of the rotation? You would hope so. If they brought in someone like Hellickson or Santana and removed Sanchez from the rotation. Our starters for the playoffs would be Estrada and Happ. Banking on Estrada back holding up and Happ being Pirates Happ. I wouldn't expect much success with that formula. Edited July 31, 2016 by Jonn
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 Even if it is, will Gibby take The Dick out of the rotation? I would assume that if the idea was to replace Dickey, then he'd be traded somewhere immediately after.
King Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 Dang88 @dan3316iel Grant Holmes is hugging people here at Quakes stadium......maybe he's just friendly
OneManAsylum Verified Member Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 Orioles acquired wade miley Meh if he is all they get nothing to worry about.
Cyborg Verified Member Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 Orioles acquired wade miley Nice trade for them. Probably their second best starter behind Gausman.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 Very surprised it didn't take that much
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Dickey >> Santana Not if you consider the roster spot fot Thole who is a below replacement backup catcher
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 I really want to see a deal shoring up our rotation. Once Sanchez moves to the pen I don't think we can go with the rotation we have today. Dickey has not been good and Stroman very hittable. Happ and Estrada are the only reliable ones and Estrada is having all sorts of issues. After Hutch we are looking at Chavez starting. Need to have a usable depth starter
flafson Verified Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Am I the only one who believes we are not getting anything done? The ceiling is probably a Grilli type deal.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Feeling like 2014 all over again... We are in Houston again too a lot like 2014 Except in 2014 we didn't have Osuna and were let down by Jansenn.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Am I the only one who believes we are not getting anything done? The ceiling is probably a Grilli type deal. I think we are done. I also think many teams who are suppose to do something are done as well
Governator Community Moderator Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 So far a pretty uneventful trade season league wide.

King Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/deadline-thoughts-blue-jays-single-prospects-drawing-interest/ Apparently we almost acquired Ben Zobrist last deadline. But wouldn't include Rowdy Tellez in the package so the deal fell through.
