Sorrow Verified Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Robert Murray of Fan Rag Sports is saying Jays acquire Liriano from Pirates, re-tweeted by Davidi. Liriano and two prospects.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Pearce is a far better hitter and not really a slouch defensively, plus more versatile. Pretty disappointing that he's going back to that shithole. It's a good move for the O's, I just think Upton fits our needs better. As I said, I would have loved to have gotten both.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Holy late depth batman, we're getting Liariano???
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Bobcat saying it may be Hutch
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Bobcat saying it may be Hutch He doesn't know s*** but its looking that way
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 He doesn't know s*** but its looking that way The two prospects back indicates either a salary dump or we give something up of value
Cyris Verified Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 What kind of salary and term does Liriano have?

skirbs11 Verified Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Still would have loved to see a Dickey for Ervin Santana swap with us adding a prospect. Estrada, Happ, Stroman, Santana and Liriano........Osuna, Grilli, Benoit, Sanchez, Feldman, Cecil and Biagini I still think we are Shooting ourselves in the foot everytime we send Dickey out on the mound.
Atothe Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Ramirez doesn't seem like much. Low walks, strikeouts and power
jaysguy44 Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2016 Posted August 1, 2016 Upset over the Red Sox getting Fernando Abad. No idea who CarGo is. LOL Good one pal. Did I not say "who's cargo? Gonzalez?" Never heard anyone call him that before. Try again

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 It did seem like there were more lopsided trades than usual
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 (edited) Also I'm quite surprised that Dombrowski thought either: The Red Sox are good enough as is Or He would not agree to some of these prices for pitching. If THIS is the case he's crazy because mid rotation starters were being traded for modest returns. Elite late inning RP seemed to carry the highest premium. Edited August 2, 2016 by G-Snarls
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 what is Atlanta doing? (sorry if this has already been discussed - I was always all weekend and just catching up with the deals now).
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 what is Atlanta doing? (sorry if this has already been discussed - I was always all weekend and just catching up with the deals now). They are retooling for their run next year. They have a loaded farm system and will probably increase payroll.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted August 2, 2016 Posted August 2, 2016 I didn't really like the Indians deadline. That team is going to win the division and I'm not sure that adding Miller really changes their WS probability all that much. He was a good get but they paid a steep price to acquire him. I didn't like the Giants deadline either. Duffy was a star player last year and is better than Matt Moore in his own right. Throw in the prospects and its a big package for a guy who doesn't project to be much better than Wade Miley. As for their other trade, Susac won't be missed but he's not a bad player and throwing in Bickford is a lot for Will Smith. At least Smith isn't a rental. That trade probably wasn't as bad as the Matt Moore trade and is something I could live with as a Giants fan.

I wonder if Toronto will try Liriano as a late inning lefty in the playoffs, assuming he never finds "it" as a starter this year.
Johnny King Vancouver Canadians - A+ LHP He took the Loss, but the 19-year-old southpaw gave up one run on five hits and a walk in five innings on Wednesday night. Explore Johnny King News >
