Spanky__99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 And this too That was correct dumb-dumb!
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 I wonder if it's realistic that Bautista sees almost all of his time down the stretch at DH. It's pretty obviously the best configuration going forward. Smoak looks... completely superfluous. That extension was so bizarre. He doesn't even have a role on the team. Naked photos could be in play too.
King Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 Winning tradition has to be a joke, right?
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 No. Probably, but my point is there is no way the Jays are done. Is Mupton the domino that triggers another move. Jays need some pitching.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 Winning tradition has to be a joke, right? Suck on that 2015 banner bitch
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 There's so much derp with this tweet... where to even begin.

King Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 I wonder what Marty York thinks of this deal.
nmrch Verified Member Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 Upton was just picked up off the scrap heap. you don't give up anything for players from the scrap heap. I confess to not knowing anything about Rodriguez, but he's only 19 and doesn't have enough of a history of failure to be discounted completely. So he's a lottery ticket and even that to me is too much to give up for a bum like Upton
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 Smoak looks... completely superfluous. That extension was so bizarre. He doesn't even have a role on the team. This trade makes that extension look even more weird now I agree. But he could have a role next year with all of our free agents. They must just think Smoak is acceptable as a starter should they whiff in the offseason. But if they can find an upgrade paying Smoak 4.25 million to be a bench player is a role they find acceptable at that price as well. Seems like with both Smoak and Upton they are hedging their bets for next season. Both could start, although not ideally, and both are paid like bench players.
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 Is that a joke tweet? Lol... the Rays made it to the playoffs 3 out of his 5 full years, including a WS appearance, and over those 5 years he averaged 4 WAR. Olbermann has gone full tard if that's a legit tweet.
Seanie Verified Member Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 I wonder if Atkins is planning to trade Bautista now since we still need SP and Bautista could bring a good return?
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 I presume he is still a good pinch runner option and late defensive replacement?
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 Just like Pat Tabler says "pitching and defense win championship!" ... even though, very literally, you need to score runs to win championships.

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 I wonder what Marty York thinks of this deal. More importantly what does Orioles Hangout think!

Hansel would definitely be in the 15-30 range.

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 More importantly what does Orioles Hangout think! They are probably ok with it. Buck Showalter is going to use his Baseball Holy Water to keep Nolan Reimold's OPS above .750 from here on out.
BTS Community Moderator Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 Hansel would definitely be in the 15-30 range. Has his stock improved this year? Wasn't in the MLB offseason top 30, or Sickels top 20. I guess FG had him 20th. But the point remains, the value of a guy like this is in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. Not a loss.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 Add up the value getting Bautista out of the OF plus what Mupton will provide over Smoak and this trade is 2 very big thumbs up
