nextyear Verified Member Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 You can pretty much live with a complete ******* on your team (as long as he isn't literally hurting his teammates) if he also happens to be one of the best pitchers in baseball, and has a track record of being such, unlike Sanchez. I don't really know how you can say that you believe Sanchez to be already better, albeit he is much cheaper but not necessarily more valuable as a result. Chris Sale has been a legitimate ace for years now. Based on the stats that I posted, Sanchez has the same WAR in fewer innings this year. Giving up Sanchez, as some suggested, plus other players and more money would be an irresponsible move by management; I am sure it won't happen.

This is Sanchez' best season control-wise in his professional (minors included) career. Sale's proven to be dominant here.

And that's great that he has, but Sale projects significantly better due to his history of being one of the best starters in baseball, while Sanchez is in his first year of success with less impressive peripherals. Odds are this kind of trade doesn't happen, because the Jays would have to add more pieces to Sanchez, and that's not a direction this team likely takes.
jimmygibbssr Verified Member Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 Sale has stated that he has changed his philosophy to pitch to contact more. This year might just be a glimpse at the new Sale.
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 Sale could also be living on borrowed time in terms of TJS. I agree though, it's hard to argue Sanchez over Sale given track record. I wouldn't be comfortable adding a ton either though.
nmrch Verified Member Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 Yes we have the pieces, but at least one would have to come off big league roster. this is right and the ultimate reason a trade would never happen. The Jays are not in a position to give up a contributing core roster piece and empty out their farm. The Jays are one of the worst possible fits for Sale. We don't have that blue cheap prospect to headline a trade.

It obvious takes more but running Sale out there every 5 days is akin to running Kershaw out there every 5. It would be awesome.
Maahfaace Verified Member Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 I wonder what the Vegas odds are on Sale's elbow exploding in say, the next 200 innings? 5 to 1?
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 The White Sox asked for Mazara, Gallo AND Profar for Sale. So no, we do not have the pieces.
