If the Dickster will be a swingman/6th starter then bringing him back wouldn't be a bad option. He is a pretty good insurance policy if one of the studs go down for any extended period of time. Having Thole around for another year would hurt my heart deeply though.

Is it just me ore does Biagini really look like a potential starter? He's got good fastball command and the changeup is legit.

Well he was an SP when we picked him up in the rule 5 draft, so I'd say, yes.

Next year, he could start in Buffalo.

I just assumed he was out of options. Good to know.

Rule V picks probably haven't used any options because they aren't on the 40 man. That's why they get taken in the first place.

no.

Nice bump. I just cant do it. Even if it makes some rational sense somehow. Our time together has come to end. If we get into playoffs, no way he gets the ball.

Have their been any successful transitions from elite closer to elite starter. I remember Feliz failing, I dont want that to happen to Osuna, but a young combo of Sanchez, Stroman and Osuna would be sick.

If Stroman consistently becomes the K pitcher we've seen lately, than that type of rotation could be our version of Cleveland's.

To a handshake to thank him for his service. Has anyone seen the shirts that say "Suck My...and than have a picture of R.A. on the front?

Good point Todd

if he wants to sign with us as a reliever I would be really into that. Toronto is his longest tenured team at this point, he might as well retire here.

Mientras más lejos mejor..... I don't want to see Dickey with the Jays uniform anymore

I don't get the reliever idea. Is there some reason to believe he can bring a more reliable knuckleball in shorter stints in the way that regular arms can throw at a higher velocity if they're only going for 30 pitches max?

Seems to me you'd want a surer thing coming out of the pen than a knuckleball.

I'd also argue that if Dickey isn't devouring 190+ innings per year, he doesn't bring much to the table.

Any other mop up guy could probably do this job, and without a personal catcher too.

On the slim chance you're not just trolling me:

Dickey, since the start of 2010 (when he started as a full-time knuckleballer) has a 3.52 ERA, a 4.13 FIP, and a 4.06 xFIP over almost 1400 innings. He's never had an ERA within even a third of a run of his FIP. We can be reasonably sure that this isn't just luck, because knuckleball pitchers have a history of busting FIP (and he's also an excellent defender, which helps pitchers beat DIPS).

Fangraphs WAR is based on FIP. Because of the above, it isn't a good metric for approximating Dickey's value. It's far better to use RA-9 WAR, which looks at actual run prevention, because Dickey's DIPS will undervalue him, and are almost meaningless.

He's between 2.6 and 3.4 RA-9 WAR every year since joining the team. He's at 1.3 this year, and will almost certainly finish at around 2. Using the best information we have, he's a 2-win pitcher.

The irony of this post is that you were trying to be smart and "one up" me. The thing is you don't understand how to interpret statistics and give proper context to them to make valid projections especially with Dickey at this point in his career. Your projections suck donkey balls as I said when you initially wrote this.

The fact that you still don't understand why your post about Dickey is a load of horse s*** shows how truly clueless you really are.

You literally have not said what premise it is you disagreed with other than a vague "lol you're dumn Dickey suxxx". I'll make it easy for you and lay out the five possible areas for disagreement:

1. knuckleballers tend to post ERAs lower than their FIPs

2. RA Dickey is a knuckleballer

3. RA Dickey has posted an ERA lower than his FIP for 7 consecutive seasons

4. fact #3 is not likely attributable to luck given that facts 1 and 2 are true

5. because of all of this FIP-based WAR will undervalue his contributions

I expect no response, because you've ducked every other time I've invited you do do more than spew incoherent s*** all over the place.
