Baseball is such an awesome game when you consider this team is completely NOT what anyone expected in regards to the on paper statistics that everyone relies on.

 

We have two all-star starting pitchers - and a third, HAPP, who should probably also be on the team and should be next in line as a replacement. No one would have thought we'd have two all-stars and a third who is pitching like an all-star and none of those three are Marcus Stroman!

 

We had a pen that projected to hold its own near the top of the league and has not been good (although much better lately).

 

And an offense that stunk for the first 60 odd games when it should be top 2 in baseball.

 

And who saw Saunders hitting? The board members in a panic over minor league walk totals for Sanchez. So much for the projection of the advanced statistics for minor league numbers.

 

This is why we watch!

 

I think Sanchez making the Allstar team is awesome by the way, mostly because its his first time and its pretty well deserved.

A Thousand dollar bet nobody in his right mind would have made or taken at the beginning of the season!!!

 

But on this board, not always being right of mind... There just might have been!!! Lol

 

That's why we play the Game, Advanced Stats Suxxx on that!!! Lol

Sanchez will pitch the 4th inning of the all-star game, according to Yost.

 

Just saw that, interesting. I wonder if he'll dial it up to 99/100 in that inning? If he does, let's hope he's ok after.

Interesting, if true about Sanchez pitching in the all star game, Sanchez will be first to pitch in game, given Syndergard injury... can't separate them using conventional stats...

The geniuses like Grant were the only ones that saw this coming...

 

Advanced stats say that Syndergard will end up way on top.

 

Murky injury reports (where there is smoke there is fire) say Syndergard arm to blow up soon.

 

NJH says both their arms will blow up soon.

 

What do Buck and Pat say??

 

Buck - "Interesting to note that so far in their young careers their stats are exactly the same"

 

Pat - "And your not kidding, these guys are exactly the same. It will be interesting to see where they end up in 10 years."

 

Buck "When I managed here I had two young guys just like these two... Halladay and Carpenter... I can tell you we're going to be talking about Sanchez and Syndergard the same way 10 years from now. These big guys just don't get injured"

I didn't exactly expect Sanchez to be an all-star this quickly, but it was pretty clear that the ability was there. I'm particularly impressed with the rapid improvement in command.

Absolutely. Even better chance than I thought.

 

No one is having a crazy season (like Kershaw) in the A.L. Sanchez is 6th in WAR.

 

If he finished 17-2 or something, and was in top 5 in WAR, top 5 in ERA... and the other contenders were 9-8. and s***, and the Jays win the East

 

Why the hell not...

 

What I am trying to say is this... no one (right now) has crazy peripherials... so like no one is going to go 13-10 with a 2.44 era and 9 WAR and make the writers notice the WAR.

 

So Sanchez can do it...

 

Will he do it?? No clue.

 

There is also a chance he goes into the bullben in August, is dynamite, vultures some wins, lowers his era, and is 17-2 2.50 and wins it with 6 weeks in the bullpen.

Above post is just hypothetical assuming he is healthy and the improvements are for real...

 

just right now he is tussling with the big boys for the Cy YOung.. No idea if it will last.

Pedro Martinez highlighted him as a major starter right now and penned him as a future CY Young pitcher. He also said he wants the Jays to keep him fresh and give him a quick hook if he'd had many starts in a row or is in a blowout game, apperently like Alou did when he was with the Expos. Really cool to see him this big of a shout, and this came right after Harold Reynolds saying the NL's Spotlight player is Bryant. I was shocked to see Sanchez on the screen lol

I can't believe they just changed the words in the Canadian anthem. What a bunch of pricks.

 

I was pleasantly surprised at first, but then they went and f***ed it all up.

Are they Canadian? If so I'll forgive them, however misguided. If not, then show some class Amurica. (I agree, that would NEVER happen with the star spangled banner).
