CBlake Verified Member Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 Never thought we would see another game below 40K this year, but we did tonight with the 35,335 at the dome. It ended their attendance streak of 28 straight games with at least 40K. The had 39,971 on July 6th vs. KC. I guess maybe with it being the first week of school and Tampa being the opponent may have played a part but who knows.

It's exactly that reason... school and a Monday, s*** happens, we still rock as a fanbase.

I know, Just looking at last year the last game of the season with below 40K was mid August. But man looking forward to tomorrow big time.

burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 35K is actually pretty high for how many seats they had sold going into the day. Although thats paid attendance as it looked like a few thousand didn't show. Wednesday's game might be pretty low given the 1230 start but I think every game sells out after that.

CBlake Verified Member Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 Why do you care so much? We've eclipsed 3 million... For anyone who experienced nights of 14-15K at the Dome especially when they tarped sections of the 500 level, this season and last have been simply amazing with excitement and big crowds back at the dome. I know the published all time low crowd for a Jays game at the dome is 10,610 from back in 2010. From speaking to a few staffers around the stadium, the turnstile count sometimes was even quite smaller. I would be very curious to how low it actually got? What do you figure maybe 7-8K.

Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 It's exactly that reason... school and a Monday, s*** happens, we still rock as a fanbase. I noticed Washington's stadium looked very empty last night vs. the Mets (no idea if they typically draw well or not) - but it appears we're not the only team who experiences a lull in attendance this time of year.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 If all three of Joey, Edwin, and Saunders walks due to a lack of financial commitment from Rogers I'd be pissed What if their decision is based on the value they bring to their team (cost per year vs. expected performance). There's a very strong possibility that Joey and Saunders (even EE) won't be "worth" what they will get on the open market....Will you accept that? or rip ownership for simply not throwing away money - just to keep overpriced players? If it's the later - kindly start cheering for the Angels and see how that works out for you.

Nationals share the same fan base with the O's and you've seen they only drew 15k people on a weekday when 5k of those were Blue Jays fans. So it wouldn't surprise me if Nationals also have similar numbers to the O's.
Laika Community Moderator Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 Tickets on StubHub are starting at like like $8 right now for the next two games. Last night was one of the best games I've gone to. Perfect weather, nobody beside us, spent less than $20 for two tickets, two hour game, good game, Jays won.
AdamLindsMom Verified Member Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 I sold my $32 CAD tickets for $75 US on Stubhub for next Friday vs Yanks 2 days ago in the middle of this big slump. I think it's just the Rays are boring and being mid week.

Lot easier to go from Oshawa or London for a weekend 1PM game than during the week.
UWHabs Verified Member Posted September 13, 2016 Posted September 13, 2016 35k is still great for a weekday game. For reference yesterday's games: LAD-NYY: 32k NYM-WAS: 22k PIT-PHI: 15k BAL-BOS: 37k MIA-ATL: 18k MIL-CIL: 14k SD-SF: 41k MIN-DET: 28k OAK-KC: 31k CLE-CWS: 12k TEX-HOU: 22k CHC-StL: 43k COL-ARI: 20k SEA-ANA: 29k So Boston, SF, and St Louis beat us for yesterday. For a weekday game against a bottom feeder in September, I'll take that.

Working people from Monday to Friday generally don't go out on weeknights like in other places. As well, with TIFF going on this week I'm sure that kind of has an impact for weeknight games.

KC as well.

Beautiful night for baseball. Had to take advantage of those prices. Plus I'll admit, while its an awesome atmosphere when the dome is sold out, it's sometimes nice when it isn't that crazy. Still 35K is a lot considering. Lineups to get into the building around first pitch were pretty hectic.
