The Astros and Blue Jays are up to something. Jays scouts are watching the Astros’ system closely."
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 Francis Martes is a really good prospect. That's interesting.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 If the Jays end up selling Edwin to Houston would make a lot of sense.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 1.6 million attendance should ask for their money back Like I said AA saved jays fandom shatkins will return it to Jpr era
Dr. Dinger Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 If the Jays end up selling Edwin to Houston would make a lot of sense. How on Earth does that make sense with our team 6 games over .500 before the all-star break?
204Jays Verified Member Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 If the Jays end up selling Edwin to Houston would make a lot of sense. The fairweather fans would revolt if we traded EE. He's playing out of his mind and it doesnt look impossible for him to perform like this for at least 3 out of a 4 year deal.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 How on Earth does that make sense with our team 6 games over .500 before the all-star break? I don't see how the Jays and Astros match up in a trade... both are competing for a playoff spot unless something drastically changes between now and the end of July

John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 But again... ow does it make sense to trade anyone off the team in a playoff race? If the Jays were below .500... sure, sell em all and pray some of the return works out, but it would be insane to dump any of the big bats while a playoff spot is within reach
Abomination Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 It would make a lot of sense to trade off some of our IFA cap space, since we're limited to 300k per player this year anyway. Probably wouldn't add up to Martes though.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 How on Earth does that make sense with our team 6 games over .500 before the all-star break? That's why I said if the Jays end up selling. From a baseball perspective, Edwin to Houston makes about as much sense as anywhere.
banned Verified Member Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 Jays are not trading EE the way he is playing LOL. I honestly would not miss Bautista that much, great hitter but he's 35 with bad defense.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 How on Earth does that make sense with our team 6 games over .500 before the all-star break? I don't think we sell either, but there's nothing wrong with being prepared. I'd be taking calls and discussing all of our free agents just in case.
glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 Trading vets when they are tied for the 2nd WC, 0.5 game out of the 1st WC, and 4-5 games out of 1st in the division would be ballsy by the new regime. It would depend who they trade, but I'm curious now.

TheHurl Site Manager Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 Only time you have an opportunity to trade from your existing lineup while in a race, is when you have a position of strength. Jays just don't have that. But the FO does have to attempt to figure out next year and AA and AAA pitchers and OF's will be available in trade
glory Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 Impending FA's of any significance: JB, EE, Saunders, Dickey, Cecil, Storen, Smoak, Chavez Cecil, maybe? I can't see the front office trading JB, EE, or Saunders right now, and Dickey/Smoak/Chavez don't have that much value. Maybe they are starting talks now incase they fall out of the race in the next month. Either that, or it's prospect for prospect trade. I can't see anything else.
thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 I don't think further depleting our bullpen is a good option right now.
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 The fairweather fans would revolt if we traded EE. He's playing out of his mind and it doesnt look impossible for him to perform like this for at least 3 out of a 4 year deal. No one cares, or should care, what a fairweather fan thinks.
204Jays Verified Member Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 No one cares, or should care, what a fairweather fan thinks. I doubt Rogers would agree, these fairweather fans are why we are #1 in AL attendance.
Cyborg Verified Member Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 This means zero lol. Every team scouts every team's farm.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 EE and JB would never agree to a trade as it stands now
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 I don't find this remotely interesting. I saw a few Jays scouts at an Astros farm game! Better tell Twitter to stir some s*** up!
Sorrow Verified Member Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 EE and JB would never agree to a trade as it stands now Shatkins could quite literally tell Bautista they're qualify him, will not be making an offer and it will hamper his earning potential. Or he can accept a trade to Houston and not get the Q/O attached to his name.

Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 I doubt Rogers would agree, these fairweather fans are why we are #1 in AL attendance. I sure hope you're wrong...cause if you're making baseball decisions based on what Gino from Woodbridge thinks, you might as well pack up and home home cause it's over.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted July 4, 2016 Posted July 4, 2016 I think people are also forgetting the peope who are actually becoming real Blue Jays fans. Its no doubt casuals are coming through in full force. But that doesn't mean some of them won't become emotionally invested in the team. Or if not them there kids who didn't experience the past 20 years of misery and futility.
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
