nextyear Verified Member Posted July 2, 2016 Posted July 2, 2016 Blue Jays will win again tomorrow. Indians are away from home, tired and sleeping in hotel beds (I hope the beds are hard and lacking warm blankets)

JFD Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2016 Posted July 2, 2016 the cleveland horseshoes will go on a 15 game losing streak now.
Cyborg Verified Member Posted July 2, 2016 Posted July 2, 2016 What don't you understand about the logic? I notice you've had trouble understanding a few basic moves in the last couple of games. Saunders is a bad matchup for Hunter with a good matchup on deck, 2 outs, run on first doesn't mean much, sets up a force at any base. It's the obvious play, hope that clears things up for you in the future. Force at any base means s***. Force home on a walk means a lot.

EdwinsParrot Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2016 Posted July 2, 2016 thank god they won, wouldve been terrible to lose this one after yesterday
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2016 Posted July 2, 2016 Tough win, but good to see it come out right after yesterday's... thing. Big bats all came through -- EE, Tulo, JD, Saunders. And I guess Zeke's speed made up on the play at the plate for the dive in RF
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2016 Posted July 2, 2016 Force at any base means s***. Force home on a walk means a lot. A force play can mean the difference between a hit and an out on certain ground balls. You'll see it come into play every game or two as you watch more baseball. Logic and statistical analysis make it an automatic move in most situations, especially with the men at the plate and a pitcher that walks very few batters. Buck and Pat brought it up, so did Zaun after the game. Franconia ignored the new age stats and the old school logic for a gut feeling. I can't support that. He made a mistake before Saunders even hit that double.

You're just trolling at this point telling me a force everywhere matters.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2016 Posted July 2, 2016 Why is Saunders a bad matchup for Hunter? Well for one thing, left handed batters have a .482 SLG against him.
Cyborg Verified Member Posted July 2, 2016 Posted July 2, 2016 Chance of scoring one run goes up about 8 percent (chance of walk or HBP) with bases loaded vs. 2nd and 3rd. Not to mention chance of scoring 2+ runs is higher. Saunders would have to project much much better against Hunter than Martin and he just doesn't.

Whatever, I just laid out the facts and tried to help after you have shown difficulty understanding a few basic moves in this series. I'd gladly debate it further if you had anything to add but snarky remarks, but I'll just take that as an admission of ignorance.

King Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2016 Posted July 2, 2016 Ryan Matthew Goins. WOW. Just wow. I don't even have words to explain how beyond extremely proud I am of you tonight. Coming into the game to pitch for your team when they needed it the most and delivering at a level no Toronto Blue Jay fan expected. Tonight you made a name for your self beyond what it was before. You should your true capability whether it be on the field or on the mound. Always up for any challenge and take advantage of every moment. You deserve all the love and respect you receive from all of us tonight. All the hard work, coming in at a MLB level with the curveball you had tonight. With no doubt the proudest of you like I always am but tonight is something special. Well done tonight Goins. Even though you lost remember tomorrow's another day and there's always another opportunity. Know even though I'm not in the seats cheering for you I always am regardless. Tonight you competed for the win but you dominated on the mound. @rgoins2 always supporting you through every inning, DP, at bat or even now on the mound. No matter where you are on the field. I believe you'll accomplish nothing but success.

I fully understand the logic behind a lot of decisions in baseball. The problem is that the logic is flawed and the flawed logic gets passed down and portrayed in ways that the general public understands. It takes the ability to use critical thinking to realize the flaws in the logic. If managers could no longer bunt or IBB, more runs would be scored. http://i.stack.imgur.com/MyQki.jpg

Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted July 2, 2016 Posted July 2, 2016 Blue Jays Win!!!!!!!!!!! Osuna Matata!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
nextyear Verified Member Posted July 3, 2016 Posted July 3, 2016 After today's win the Blue Jays are only 5 games behind Baltimore, and Seattle is beating Baltimore 8 - 1 after 4 innings, so the Blue Jays could be only 4.5 games back by the end of tonight's games.

All things considered that's a pretty good spot to be in. We need to actually string some wins together soon though.
