thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 You simply can't have such a teleporting strike zone at the major league level.
banned Verified Member Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 I still can't believe he threw out EE so quick, prob cost us the game.
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 Zaun is absolutely on point here. What did he say?
bronson44 Verified Member Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 Of course it does not end the season, but do you think this is a serious contender? The bullpen is shoddy, the offense is very inconsistent, starting pitching is regressing. The chance we go on a big second half run this year are slim. Can you just stop coming back here? Chances are slim
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 You simply can't blame the hitters for this game. I hate to use the old cliché, but anyone who has played this game knows that it is damn near impossible to hit when the umpire is set on screwing you. Look at Russ Martin, look at Eddy, listen to what Zaun said. It's so, so difficult.
GD Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 1 game makes a season now? Says the obsessive idiot who's suggesting the mental effect of this game will head them into a tailspin
thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 What did he say? Talking about the inconsistencies in the strike zone and how it messed with the hitters (and also how he turned it into a show about himself).
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 What did he say? Disgraceful umpiring, needs to see discipline, etc.
nextyear Verified Member Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 This is going to hurt the Blue Jays veterans for several days. My guess for tomorrow's lineup: Thole at catcher Encarnacion at DH Smaok at 1B Travis at 2B (however, he looks like he needs a day off) Goins at SS Donaldson at 3B (and Barney) Carrera at LF Pillar in CF Lake in RF Which might not be bad if the Indians go with mostly the players that started today. Saunders looked like he was dead tired, Martin will be aching tomorrow (at his age and playing catcher), Barney hasn't been playing regularly so maybe he can start at 3B. Donaldson will be tired but the Blue Jays might need him in the lineup anyway. As tough as this loss was, the Blue Jays can redeem themselves by winning the final two games.
banned Verified Member Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 Says the obsessive idiot who's suggesting the mental effect of this game will head them into a tailspin Except I never said that, I just don't think this is a serous contender, it's a middling team whose offense from last year won;t be replicated. Keep spewing insults like a child though. Losses like this can have an effect, to say otherwise means you never played sports in your life.
2lowitzki Verified Member Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 I just found out today's home plate umpire Vic Carapazza was a home plate umpire in GAME2 of the ALDS last year. I remember his strike zone was really biased toward the Rangers, so I'm sure that he is anti-Blue Jays or anti-Canada I won't be surprised if he get shot tonight after today's game
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 Talking about the inconsistencies in the strike zone and how it messed with the hitters (and also how he turned it into a show about himself). Basically. Huge crowd, tons of fanfare, throws out one of the team's two premiere players after a 4-second exchange.

fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 It's ok our team will come back tomorrow with a chip on their shoulder. They might be pissed now but tomorrow they'll realize the went 19 innings against the hottest team in baseball without their manager and 2nd best hitter + no catcher for 6 innings. Oh yeah and the losing pitcher is a position player... The SEXOND of the game. Great takeaway is the bullpen and Stroman, fantastic today
2lowitzki Verified Member Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 This is Canada, not the States. Well, considering the number of gun violences in Toronto.. I won't be surprised about that.
thatoneguy Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 Having EE in the lineup means JD gets to likely see more pitches to hit and possibly end the game (and obviously provides EE's hitting prowess in all of those situations where they could've won). It's just such a shame that an ump show had to take this over, I wouldn't nearly be as pissed if the Jays had just straight up lost.

Next time we have a blowout game, let's save the pen and have them pitch again.

MLB needs to do something.
2lowitzki Verified Member Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vic_Carapazza From the wikipedia of today's home plate umpire In 2015, he was criticized by some players and media members after Game 2 of the 2015 American League Division Series between the Toronto Blue Jays and Texas Rangers for what some saw as an inconsistent strike zone.

That should tell you everything you need to know about MLB's umpiring institution. Also. I'll chip in for the guy's bail.

McKean? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_McKean I think Scheurwater as well.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted July 1, 2016 Author Posted July 1, 2016 Win the next 2 and split the series. We need to come out focused tomorrow.
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 Lineup completely s*** the pants today, unfortunately. The egregious calls settled down but they still went over an entire game's worth of innings barely squaring anything up, even against struggling arms. Really bad work all around, including JD getting doubled up.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 Can anyone find out how many of the Jays strikeouts were called 3rd strikes?
BlueJays Verified Member Posted July 2, 2016 Posted July 2, 2016 I hope they stop using Carrera as a lead-off.
