GDT: Cleveland Indians @ Toronto Blue Jays- Game 2/4 CANADA DAY

Even though they lost, I thought this game was f***ing entertaining, I've never had so much fun watching a regular season game sober.

 

Man the devotion of this fanbase is something else. The amount of people still sitting in the 18th & 19th innings are probably bigger than the average attendance of Cleveland and the Rays combined. s*** the amount of people there probably was higher than the average game during the horrid '08-12 stretch the Jays had where we were confused and tried to rebuild. Also the crowd started dieing off in the 16th and 17th, but boy when Goins came into pitch the sound levels reached the same level as first pitch! Proud to be a Blue Jays fan tbh, we've always said give us a winning team and we'll come and support and we're definitely coming through on our end of the stick

I got inside the dome at 11:30am, and I sure as hell wasn't leaving until the final out. The game ended at around 7:30pm. I was in the dome for 8 f***ing hours.

 

Great game, i'd definitely do it again.

Edwin will be well rested, Smoak didn't play the full game and should be ok, Travis only DH'ed for most of the game and can play, Estrada will be pitching as scheduled; although the Blue Jays will have to sit at least 2 regulars (Martin and Saunders) I think they can still field a strong team.

 

I expect the Blue Jays to win big today.

 

I am not overly disappointed by yesterday's loss since it was entertaining.

Lmao same here!! I came early to see if I can get my Canada Day Jersey stitched (Eaton's don't carry lettering for those jerseys apperently) and saw the line long as s***. I left and took my seat, and apart from standing up for plays I was in my seat until 730 hahaha

I had to leave after the 14th to catch the 6:20 train back to Barrie. My 5 year old sat and watched all 14 innings - what a beauty he is. That GO train to Barrie is f'ing sweet too - never driving or hitting the subway again!

I expect the same. Even though the Indians won, I think that game will smoothen out their edge and we win comfortably today.

For the record I don't think using Goins over Happ was even a bad decision at all. It just looks awful in retrospect because of the loss and the DL stint.

They basically conceded the game when all they needed was a single run. It's frankly amazing it ended up as close as it did. Cleveland clearly wasn't about to punt.

 

Unless Happ is hurting or something, Hale is a complete moron. If I'm a position player on the bench I'm pretty pissed off that I played 17 innings for the boss to just go 'welp'. Of all the starters, it's Happ who would have had the edge vs. Santana, Kipnis, and Lindor too.

I don't see the problem of Hutch coming up to cover for Happ when the alternative is punting a game. It's now one more game that will need to be won in September.

Looks like Happ threw his side the prior day. Guess they really were out of options, though "not wanting to use Happ out of order" or whatever is clearly a way more suspect stated reason than the very specific ones they gave for everyone else:
