fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2016 Posted July 2, 2016 Even though they lost, I thought this game was f***ing entertaining, I've never had so much fun watching a regular season game sober. Man the devotion of this fanbase is something else. The amount of people still sitting in the 18th & 19th innings are probably bigger than the average attendance of Cleveland and the Rays combined. s*** the amount of people there probably was higher than the average game during the horrid '08-12 stretch the Jays had where we were confused and tried to rebuild. Also the crowd started dieing off in the 16th and 17th, but boy when Goins came into pitch the sound levels reached the same level as first pitch! Proud to be a Blue Jays fan tbh, we've always said give us a winning team and we'll come and support and we're definitely coming through on our end of the stick

The game ended at around 7:30pm. I was in the dome for 8 f***ing hours. Great game, i'd definitely do it again.
nextyear Verified Member Posted July 2, 2016 Posted July 2, 2016 I expect a win from the Blue Jays today. Edwin will be well rested, Smoak didn't play the full game and should be ok, Travis only DH'ed for most of the game and can play, Estrada will be pitching as scheduled; although the Blue Jays will have to sit at least 2 regulars (Martin and Saunders) I think they can still field a strong team. I expect the Blue Jays to win big today. I am not overly disappointed by yesterday's loss since it was entertaining.

Thole has played more in the last 3 games than he has.
nextyear Verified Member Posted July 2, 2016 Posted July 2, 2016 Wait why does Martin have to rest? Thole has played more in the last 3 games than he has. Yeah sure, he played 13 innings yesterday and it is a 1:07 pm start today; Martin starts the game - not going to happen.

You realize yesterday was a day game as well right? He absolutely starts today. Especially with the run Estrada is on. Thole hasn't caught him all season.

I came early to see if I can get my Canada Day Jersey stitched (Eaton's don't carry lettering for those jerseys apperently) and saw the line long as s***. I left and took my seat, and apart from standing up for plays I was in my seat until 730 hahaha
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2016 Posted July 2, 2016 I had to leave after the 14th to catch the 6:20 train back to Barrie. My 5 year old sat and watched all 14 innings - what a beauty he is. That GO train to Barrie is f'ing sweet too - never driving or hitting the subway again!

Even though the Indians won, I think that game will smoothen out their edge and we win comfortably today.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2016 Posted July 2, 2016 Nice response from Gibby putting out this line up today. They're going to be after it big time today.
nextyear Verified Member Posted July 2, 2016 Posted July 2, 2016 Wow, you were absolutely right. Dr. Ken Jeong is so annoying.
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2016 Posted July 2, 2016 Stop batting Carrera lead off for all that is holy.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2016 Posted July 2, 2016 Why is Tulo batting 7th? He's been on a roll. Martin should be lower
banned Verified Member Posted July 2, 2016 Posted July 2, 2016 Tulo 7th, this org does not deserve winning baseball hitting Carerra leadoff, such incredible incompetence.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 2, 2016 Posted July 2, 2016 What insane way can we find to lose THIS one??
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 2, 2016 Posted July 2, 2016 For the record I don't think using Goins over Happ was even a bad decision at all. It just looks awful in retrospect because of the loss and the DL stint.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 2, 2016 Posted July 2, 2016 But the loss is on the offense. Clearly.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 2, 2016 Posted July 2, 2016 Edwin would have had about 7 chances to win the game if he hadn't gotten ejected. JS.

If Happ was able to pitch and they put Goins in, instead, then that is just a terrible decision all around.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2016 Posted July 2, 2016 Yeah the Zeke magic has worn off. Now is the time to drop him to 9th and slot everyone up 1 spot.

If Happ was able to pitch and they put Goins in, instead, then that is just a terrible decision all around. They basically conceded the game when all they needed was a single run. It's frankly amazing it ended up as close as it did. Cleveland clearly wasn't about to punt. Unless Happ is hurting or something, Hale is a complete moron. If I'm a position player on the bench I'm pretty pissed off that I played 17 innings for the boss to just go 'welp'. Of all the starters, it's Happ who would have had the edge vs. Santana, Kipnis, and Lindor too.

Happ probably should have been up and warming a couple innings before We were so close to winning (runner on 3B) that I think Hale never thought he'd have to go through that many guys
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 2, 2016 Posted July 2, 2016 The only starter I'd have had no issues using on short rest is Dickey. Seems.he could handle it. I found myself actually wishing he hadn't just pitched cause I'd have even used him on 2 days rest. The other issue is the chain effect. You cannot use Sanchez or Estrada on short rest right now. By using Happ last night you're accepting that Hutch has to come up for a start too. It's a domino effect. I wonder in fact of they're actually worried that Estrada might not be able to make his next start. If that's the case tthey might need Hutch for that start, making it all the riskier to use Happ last night.

I don't see the problem of Hutch coming up to cover for Happ when the alternative is punting a game. It's now one more game that will need to be won in September. edit: Looks like Happ threw his side the prior day. Guess they really were out of options, though "not wanting to use Happ out of order" or whatever is clearly a way more suspect stated reason than the very specific ones they gave for everyone else:
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted July 2, 2016 Posted July 2, 2016 Oh, my bad. I thought Happ was today's starter for some reason.
