gbill2004 Verified Member Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 From the Toronto Sun: Usually two clubs a combined 23 games under .500 don’t draw a lot of scouts in the month of May. When this series began, the Jays were four games under (19-23) and the Twins were 19 below water level (10-29), yet they drew a crowd of evaluators. And one name of a player that the Blue Jays have told teams is available via trade is reliever Drew Storen as the Jays search for bullpen help. Scouts from the Atlanta Braves, Colorado Rockies, Kansas City Royals, Los Angeles Dodgers, Miami Marlins, San Diego Padres and San Francisco Giants were watching the Jays-Twins series. Storen pitched a scoreless seventh inning on Friday with the Jays up 9-2. Facing Storen, Eduardo Nunez flew out, Joe Mauer singled, Miguel Sano struck out and Trevor Plouffe popped up.

jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 People seem really concerned about how much Rodgers spends
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 The Jays have told teams he's available and apparently there were scouts at the series. The article, which only asks the question about Storen: http://www.torontosun.com/2016/05/21/will-the-blue-jays-trade-drew-storen So, for anyone who knows, would scouts show up to a four-game series in hopes of seeing a mop-up guy?
xposbrad Verified Member Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 People seem really concerned about how much Rodgers spends Ya think? It would have been nice to have JZim over Dickey and another proven bullpen arm. So ya. But, trading Storen now makes 0 sense, we're not that far out from the WC.
jays_fever Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 So you want them to keep Storen so Rogers spends more money, but also want Zimmerman who makes more than Dickey.
xposbrad Verified Member Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 So you want them to keep Storen so Rogers spends more money, but also want Zimmerman who makes more than Dickey. What is your point exactly? Obviously every single fan would have taken Zim over Dickey and wants the team to spend more? I would take the chance that Storen can regain some form, he's only 28 and has put up a couple of solid years in the majors. We aren't that far off from the wild card, so why trade him now? It's not like we are overflowing with quality relievers.

puphood Verified Member Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 Storen's last outing against the Twins was a nail biter as they made hard contact against him and he was lucky the Twin's score didn't balloon. I would like to know what the scouts in the bleachers thought. The Storen for Revere trade was a bust, hopefully they get something they need for him. The trade was in part to open up a position for Saunders return, and even though I like Saunder's bat I don't like his ability in left field and to me his speed is suspect........
BTS Community Moderator Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 He's owed what, 6M more this year? Based on what we've seen, why not let someone else pay that?
puphood Verified Member Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 He's owed what, 6M more this year? Based on what we've seen, why not let someone else pay that? He cost the Jays...Revere, plus cash and a player to be named then add the 8 mil. salary. Question who would want him at this point with his record this year and last year wasn't note worthy either...even unloading Dickey would be easier.....
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 If we could get rid of him lovely. Not expecting much of a return.

Statman Verified Member Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 I think it would be a win to just unload his contract. Really, just throw in a player to be named later and call it done.
Inklink Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 they say there's a sucker born every minute.... hope the Jays can find their's Jays management is full of 'em.
jays4life19 Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 Storen should be better going forward. 25% HR/FB. .391 BABIP. He pretty much has no value right now since he's owed probably like 6 million going forward. Projections think he will be decent going forward and his peripherals are around his career norm. I say keep him instead of just giving him away when his value is nill.
FrozenRopes Verified Member Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 I think all players save for Osuna, Sanchez, Stro and Donaldson are available for trade.
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 I think all players save for Osuna, Sanchez, Stro and Donaldson are available for trade. I would add Travis and Pillar on that list.
HERPDERP Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 I'd still do the trade. It was a good move at the time. No one expected his fastball to go to s*** so quickly.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 I think all players save for Osuna, Sanchez, Stro and Donaldson are available for trade. Every player should be available. If someone wants to overpay for someone, make the move.

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 I think all players save for Osuna, Sanchez, Stro and Donaldson are available for trade. I don't think Donaldson is on the list. The other 3 yes.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2016 Posted May 22, 2016 hard to see Storen moved until time for Sanchez to switch to bullpen.... after AS break? he will have about 110 IP by that point

You're crazy if you think anyone else is paying the tab, unless we're trading like for like in terms of salary. If we want anything of value at this point we'd need to send cash on our end

This is why I don't like trading position players for relievers. he should have been a safe bet though, he's been great in the past he's in contract year. I heard a rumour on Jeff Blair's show that he doesn't like being in Toronto so the location ain't helping him

Probably not the best time to move him but there will be teams interested and sounds like they're already is.

No one expected his fastball to go to s*** so quickly. i hated it and took flack for it. it was not a good trade then and is even worse now. i also loved the hendriks for chavez trade for a similar reason and took flack for it. granted i thought chavez would be a SP. not trying to pat myself on the back here i just hate these roller coaster relievers (which is 99% of all RPs). dont pay them money and dont give up assets for them unless u get the 1%. if u absolutely need them for the stretch run then just jump on a mark lowe type for cheap at the deadline. nobody should consider nick wells + jake brentz assets and lowe was good for us.

Unless you can do a la Happ with him, he has no value in my opinion.
