I can't stand this little s***.

He's been in MLB for less than a season, contributes negatively with the bat, but this little turd still things he's a big deal, and struts around like he's got a 12 inch cock. He's much too important to run out ground balls, like every other s***** hitting middle infielder has done since the beginning of time, and can't be bothered learning how to bunt cuz he's too much of a stud.

Send him back to the minors where he can whine about his daily per diem for a couple of years, while staying in cum-soaked hotels, until he learns some humility.

If I didn't read the title of the thread I'd of thought you were talking about Pillar. Except for the middle infielder part.

Yup. They are pretty much the same caliber player with the exception Pillars defense in CF offering more value to the team.

Totally disagree.

Pillar isn't super cocky, and he tries harder than anyone else on this team.

Not sure about his bunting skills, but the guy sure as hell runs out his ground balls. And his bat is at least a little better than Goins.

Goins is good defensively.

Wonder if when Travis is back they'll have him DH, Goins at 2nd and EE at 1st.

Travis is as good as a defender as Goins.

Both replacement level bats (career wRC+ < 100).

I don't think you know what replacement level means.

Pretty sure you just mixed WAR with wRC+ to come up with that

Back to Statboy status for now.

Pillar is a career .300 plus hitter in minor leagues. Goins is a scub even in the minors

Pillars pitch selection is horrible but he can make solid contact

If Pillar has one standout quality, it's that he is super cocky.

Just a heads up, most professional athletes/baseball players are cocky or seem cocky.

Agree that he is cocky. His twitter fight with Wilner about his qualities for being the LO hitter was brutal. He has also said some other strange things. He still seems like a nice guy though in interviews etc. Chatted with him when he has signed autographs for my son etc and he is always really pleasant.

He is a stellar defensive player and should probably have somewhere around a 90 wRC+ again this year. 3 WAR "ish". Goins cant come close to matching that.

Yup, he's a really good player. I think he probably thinks he's as good as he actually is, just undervalues the impact of his defense and overvalues the impact of his bat...if that makes sense.

What the hell is wrong with people these days...losing going to your head?

Pillar > Goins...clearly...on both offense AND defense. If I had to choose which skill set is relatively dominated more by Pillar, it'd be offense.

Travis is going to be up with the MLB club the instant he's ready.

Whether it's Barney or Goins who gets cut from the 25-man, it doesn't really matter. The value provided to the team as a back up infielder won't make much of a difference. At least Goins is Donaldson's video game buddy so I'm fine with him being the favourite for that reason alone. If Tulowitzki gets injured the team can revisit their options when that bridge is crossed.

I agree with the former, but have an issue with the latter, just for the simple fact Goins can be sent down without going through waivers. If one of Tulo or Travis end up on the DL it'd be nice to have an option in bringing a decent glove up for defense. As you've said it isn't that big of a deal but why not use what you have, regardless.

Ryan Goins was an above average player last year... that doesn't give him some rope? Travis is coming back anyway.

Yeah DFAing Barney when you can demote Goins would just be lousy asset management. Having Goins a phone call away should Tulo go down or Travis encounter a set back while also having Barney available off the bench would be a good setup.

He was not. And he's been worth -0.8 fWAR in games that didn't happen in 2015.

Baseball management 101, I presume.

Man, Goins being optioned would make for a glorious conclusion to the question of whether or not he can stick.

He wasn't above average, he was about average given his playing time. He doesn't get rope because he's a 28 year old career 61 wRC+ hitter with vastly overrated defense and is substantially below replacement level a month into the season.

Firstly, Ryan Goins was not an above average player last year. A 1.5 WAR player is average at best, but above replacement level as an adequate bench role player. However, Barney gives us essentially the same value and currently has the hotter bat between the two scrubs.

This is a definite consideration, assuming the team expects Barney to not clear waivers. Whatever they decide, I will assume they are competent enough to make the right decision given all the circumstances.

Dammit. I was thinking this was Moogy's latest troll account...you know...without the "NotThat" part attached to it. But there's no way Moogy would have said something this egregious, unless he's trying to do a 180 on us and annoy us with stupidity rather than his self-proclaimed brilliance.
