Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 Floyd, Chavez and now Hutchison pitching out of the bullpen at same time is Dave Stewart-esque. Trade Dickey? - Nobody want him
West Texas Forever Old-Timey Member Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 Yeah. Eventually perhaps we'll see Pompey come up and fill that role once late summer roles around. He isn't really killing it in AAA, hitting .290 which isn't too bad I guess.
Angrioter Old-Timey Member Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 If you want a corner infield who can't hit, then call up Matt Dominguez wRC+ Vs L 81 Vs R 76

I think he's the right choice but this bench is a mess. Not one decent player, probably not anybody better than replacement level even.
nmrch Verified Member Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 Isn't he bad from the right side though. I remember as a prospect he had a much better swing LH. I went ahead and compiled his minor league splits. They'll also be useful for future discussions. Against LHP (450 PA's) .281/.361/.413, 12% BB, 19% K & .132 ISO Against RHP (1202 PA's) .287/.377/.416, 12% BB, 18% K & .129 ISO note - these numbers don't include HBP or SF because the minor league stats pages don't list them individually. Those are pretty identical numbers, Pompey looks to be the rare switch hitter who doesn't have a "natural" side.

I don't care if he catch the f***ing ball or not, i just want a guy who can hit the baseball. Barney and Goins are the "I can catch the ball" guys.

The bench and AAA is all replacement level players.

Teams may have a good STARTING 3B but when they need a day off you aren't going to see teams put a some great hitter who sits on the bench...

We need a 1B/3B/OF who can hit. Shatkins will trade for someone very soon (Pompey-Cecilliani hurt) Sean Rodriguez please lol

fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 Has to be a reason for it. But it does speak about Atkin's terrible roster management thus far into the season. He seems like a really smart guy and is a plus to have in the FO but he's struggled as GM so far. His work with the media has been pretty bad IMO too which is a GM's responsibility. Atkins is in a learning phase, which was something I was worried about since the start. It's not like we're rebuilding and we have the time to let him learn the ropes, it's an adjustment regardless of who's pres. He'll be fine but I hope it won't be too late by then Which reminds me, when was the last time a team was in contention and had their GM replaced by someone with 0 GM experience? This move was unheard of.

RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 Send Sanchez to the pen. That is our only answer
AdamGreenwood Old-Timey Member Posted April 26, 2016 Posted April 26, 2016 Hutch isn't that bad, but he needs to come out after the second time through the order. Regardless of what inning it is.

Dodgers is the only one that comes to the top of my head. He was assistant GM though. He was under a GM's wing when it came to transactions and knowing how to manage a team with Billy Bean for a couple of years. Atkins was a player development person. Really? This literally happens all the time. Boston, Toronto, New York, Tampa Bay, Cleveland, Detroit, Chicago, Oakland, Texas, Anaheim, St Louis, Los Angeles, Arizona, Colorado, San Diego and San Francisco are doing this with their current situations. Those teams were not rebuilding at the time. GMs don't get recycled like managers do. If you think our situation is unique, you aren't paying attention to the rest of the league. What? More than half the teams you mentioned were not in contention at the time the GMs changed. A's in contention when Billy Bean left the GM role? After being last in the AL last year? Really?
