He got caught and is suspicious of what he actually took. Confused as to why JD didn't get caught. I don't think that happened, but what I found oddly curious was that Cola shared the news with Pillar. This whole time, I thought Cola and JD were close buddies? How come he didn't share the news with JD? It seems very odd.Finding out Pillar/Cola are close is like finding out Tulo and Smoak are close.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 The whole of professional sports is on PEDs. Can we just give up the prohibition already, the battle has been lost. My concern is the 16 year olds taking drugs because they see pro athletes (their "role models") doing it and making millions. Drugs are bad mkay - I think it's a battle worth fighting.

Who are these 16 year olds? 16 old athletes take PEDs because they want to compete, get drafted or get into a good college program, not because Chris Colabello is doing it. Non-athletes do it because the idea male body shape these days is the Cristiano Ronaldo/Channing Tatum style superman. Nobody is doping to look like Prince Fielder or a long distance runner.

The bolded part is my point. If it becomes 'allowed' in MLB, I think the number of teenagers taking PEDs skyrockets and I think that's bad. End of point.

Cola and Pillar travel together in the winter to places like Saskatoon, Fort McMurray etc to promote the Jays. They frequently post photos on Instagram, Twitter etc together. Not a surprise Cola told KP.
RealAccountant Old-Timey Member Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 I think this is a lot simpler than most people realize Cola had a chance to elevate his game by taking PEDs and he did it. He went from being in the international league to playing in MLB and getting an MLB contract, or multiple ones. and then he got caught There is no more.
admin Site Manager Posted April 25, 2016 Posted April 25, 2016 Something is odd here. He either a) didn't think he would be tested is an idiot c) legit didn't know he was taking it. Detection times are pretty short for it. Maybe he just thought he would take it for a few weeks before the season to put on a few pounds and was unlikely he would be tested. Who knows.

Who knows. everyone gets tested day one of training camp for physicals. I forget to grab milk on the way home from work once in a while, but it's hard to believe you'd forget that you were taking a banned substance. Maybe it just stayed in his system longer than he thought it would and he just cut it too close. It seems odd and reckless if he did it knowingly.

As Morosi pointed out this morning, the PED in question is illegal so it's not like you'd find it in an over the counter supplement unless it was tainted. The c) explanation is not impossible but it's pretty unlikely. If he didn't know, it's probably because he didn't want to know. It's doubtful that he was contaminated by a sanctioned product.

My guess is they would keep it quiet. Giving an 80 day suspension to an entire clubhouse would be too much of a s*** show. Who knows? Maybe it's already happened.

Since Selig kept it quite it for so long if they got caught doing that again they would lose more fans than that single team that got caught would lose.

I'm going to play the role of a nefarious person here. It would be extremely easy to screw over an entire team if you wanted to. Assistant clubhouse cook? You can easily taint the food. Acquire easy OTC illegal supplements, grind them into a powder and then sprinkle them into sauces that you include in the food that the clubhouse eats. Work as a barrista at the Starbucks along Front St? Hope you get a chance to serve a player and sneak something in their coffee Work at a high-end restaurant that is frequented by players, like Sotto Sotto and Stroman? Sneak something into their wine glass

You play the nefarious person really well, and watch too many fictional drama's. I grew up with the 'devil's advocate' mantra lol. Even at work I have so many unique ideas that when I suggested it to upper management gave me a weird look. For example, I work in retail. Lets say I work for Adidas and my competitor is Nike. I want to sabotage Nike's sales. The best place I can do this is at The Bay since they have a lax refund policy. You can buy a product and return it to any store, no questions asked. You can event return it at a store that doesn't have a Nike fixture or sell those products at that particular location. So what I could do is buy a bunch of high-priced Nike items (high price means less inventory on hand) or even get the company to hire other people to buy Nike product, and then we all return it at lower selling, s***** stores (e.g. buy from Queen flagship and return to Scarborough Town Centre). What ends up happening, is all this new product that Nike wanted to sell to customers actually ends up in stockrooms in stores that can't even carry the item. Customers can't see your product? Then no sales I should set up a consulting firm.

For example, Bautista got tested 16 times during the 2011 or 2012 season (clearly wasn't random there). Others get it once or twice, often none and that little oral supplement is probably out of their system within a week. So unless the head chef has some inside info when a random drug test kit is arriving for Stroman, he's just risking losing some major tips for the restaurant.

Knowing whether a test is coming or not is irrelevant, all you need to do is get your opportunity and hope for the best. Pick a PED that stays in the body for several weeks and can be easily detected, for example. You don't even have to target a specific player to cause havoc. Hope a team outing heads to a particular popular restaurant (like Barbarians), slip PED XYZ into the food/drink. BOOM, Verlander gets caught with XYZ, everyone is shocked and will just limit the scope to Verlander. A few weeks later, BOOM, Gose gets caught with XYZ, and then everyone in the baseball world will suddenly ask why the coincidence that two players on the same team got caught with the same drug - is everyone on that team sharing it? Crime syndicates have the resources to concoct such a scheme, especially with gambling as a motivating factor. It's easy to beat a team if they are without their star players because of drug suspensions.

The amount it would take for it to register in a test is more than you could put into someones food or drink without them noticing.

The amount it would take for it to register in a test is more than you could put into someones food or drink without them noticing. Actually that is how it works. Many steroids stay in the blood months after. 2 – 4 months Testosterone Cypionate, Primoteston Depot, Sten, Sustanon, Sostenon, Durateston, Anadrol, Anapolin, Hemogenin, Stenox, Halotesten, and Winstrol are drugs, which can show up on a blood or urine screen within one to four months of use. These are acceptable for off-season use by many athletes who are not tested during this period, as they are often out of the system by the time the season starts. 2 to 6 weeks Nilevar, Parabolan, Dianabol (oral), D-Bol (oral), Primobolan Depot, Anavar, Winstrol/Stanozolol (oral), and testosterone Propionate are compounds, which work fast and move through the system very quickly. Just as their half-life is short, the positive anabolic effects upon their body are done quickly as well.
