JFD Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 Buck talking up Biagini like he's a complete stud. Guy was a rule 5 pick for a reason. Buck is a moron and so is his little sidekick.
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 Really? It seems appropriate to jump ship on your rule 5 keeper to save a game. With Chavez unavailable and the game in extras, Biagini was hardly egregious. Not to mention he's a good pitcher.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 ? Because your starting catcher can't play in 150 games? How do people not realize this? Dickey gets 30 starts bro. He can play a third of a game once in a while out of the 30. Wow.. Check your math.
nmrch Verified Member Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 ? Because your starting catcher can't play in 150 games? How do people not realize this? I've gotten tired of making this point. Given his age and injury history, Russell is being overworked already.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 Orioles had a horseshoe up their ass all game long, it was only a matter of time
Hal Johnson Verified Member Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 There is one thing that a backup catcher MUST do well. 3 guesses at what that might be...
Maahfaace Verified Member Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 i blame Colabello and his long face more
jackie Verified Member Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 I think it was miscommunication. Thole looked to be setting up outside and didn't expect an inside pitch
jays76 Verified Member Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 Thole f***ed up and we had some bad luck that inning. Was a gift for the O's
bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 Dickey gets 30 starts bro. He can play a third of a game once in a while out of the 30. Wow.. Check your math. Not to mention 20 of those games by Dickey are blow outs with us losing so Martin can sit all of those.
BTS Community Moderator Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 Dickey gets 30 starts bro. He can play a third of a game once in a while out of the 30. Wow.. Check your math. The problem isn't that Martin doesn't play enough, it's that the backup catcher is a sack of s***.
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 With Chavez unavailable and the game in extras, Biagini was hardly egregious. Not to mention he's a good pitcher. Outside the Joseph double he was totally fine. Even Rickard's hit was pure luck.
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 lmfao That game really couldn't have ended any other way.

No he can't, Martin should catch around 120 games and that's pushing it, maybe a few DH appearances but he needs rest, so pinch hitting and playing 3rd(?) would be too much workload given his age and injury history
burlingtonbandit Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 Dickey gets 30 starts bro. He can play a third of a game once in a while out of the 30. Wow.. He has.. He played in all but one game coming into this one. Its not as simple as you can just call Martin off the bench and he goes straight into the game either. Martin takes like 30 min to warm up so he needs to know in advance if he's coming into the game or not. Martin might the most important position player to keep healthy, you can't run him into the ground 16 games into the season.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 With Chavez unavailable and the game in extras, Biagini was hardly egregious. Not to mention he's a good pitcher. Sorry I must have missed this, what's wrong with Chavez?
jackie Verified Member Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 Thole did make a nice throw to second to get that runner
jays76 Verified Member Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 I've gotten tired of making this point. Given his age and injury history, Russell is being overworked already. No Navarro this year will make for a long season for Rusty.
bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 Wasn't really expecting to win this game tbh, Ubaldo kind of dominates the Jays and Dickey is AIDS personified so.
nmrch Verified Member Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 The problem isn't that Martin doesn't play enough, it's that the backup catcher is a sack of s***. This.
Belliss101 Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 You can complain that we left 10 on base... But several times balls were stung right in gloves. I'm actually feeling like they're finally coming out of this beginning season slump after seeing today
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 With Chavez unavailable and the game in extras, Biagini was hardly egregious. Not to mention he's a good pitcher. We needed Kratz there...
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 The problem isn't that Martin doesn't play enough, it's that the backup catcher is a sack of s***. Bring back Erik Kratz!!
intentional wok Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 I think it was miscommunication. Thole looked to be setting up outside and didn't expect an inside pitch He didn't look all that stunned by it. But even if he was, it was a totally blockable play. A professional catcher can't let that sort of pitch bite him. It wasn't spiked and it wasn't a three-foot loss of control.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 Sorry I must have missed this, what's wrong with Chavez? Back tightness
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 Sorry I must have missed this, what's wrong with Chavez? His back.
admin Site Manager Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 He has.. He played in all but one game coming into this one. Martin might the most important position player to keep healthy, you can't run him into the ground 16 games into the season. We'rea month into the damn season, he doesn't need a f***ing day off. And I'll take a cold Martin with a broken arm over Thole. It's not hard to prepare to come into the game when you know you're coming in when Dickey is coming out. Stop looking for reasons, you're wrong. Gibbons is a terrible manager, period.
fatcowxlive Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 ? Because your starting catcher can't play in 150 games? How do people not realize this? You are correct. The question isn't why is Martin getting the full day off, the question is why are we still giving Dickey a personal catcher instead of a great defensive catcher? I mean with Thole, Dickey is poised to be the worst starter out of our rotation. We can't justify giving him a personal catcher. What's the status of Jimenez? Isn't he supposed to be a wonder kid behind the plate defensively? I think we should roll the dice on him until we can find someone decent on the waiver wire.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 We needed Kratz there... Jesus Spank.. Simultaneous thoughts? Dangerous s***..
KingKat Old-Timey Member Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 There were some intriguing catchers in the rule 5. Kratz only signed a MiLB deal. It wouldn't have been hard to bring in a guy to a least compete with Thole in the spring.
