jays fo in 2012 were probably like "syndergaard strikes too many guys out, wont get out of the 6th, get rid of him"

Yeah Garbage stuff, remember that one guy who pitched here a while back. What a garbage pitcher he was, just got lucky with babip. Roy something. Its all that flukey f***s fault. I used to be so disgusted with him and his ground ball contact stuff. We need more Strikeout pitchers like Brandon Morrow and Dustin Mcgowan. They is good

Shapiro will get rid of it.

But Stroman is a bit hard-headed so it will take a while.

I truly hope you're right. It makes sense he would given Cleveland's rotation and how the big 3 were BEFORE they were fixed.

Plus you gotta also look at how successful the Indians have been with all their strikeout pitchers. People need to look at Shapiro's trophy case to see what real success is, 15 years of control over Cleveland with his brand of philosophies, he must have dozens of notable accomplishments.

Hopefully not, it's worth discussing imo. It's a dumb philosophy that painted Sanchez as garbage and has clearly decreased the effectiveness of Stroman this season, and prospects like Hoffman last season.

We need 2014 Stroman back. 4.75 K/9 and a 4.09 xFIP isn't good enough for someone with his abilities.

Roy got for more strikeouts later in his career and went to another level.

To be totally honest I'm worried they brought Shapiro in so that he can cut costs and find great bargain pitchers like Brandon Morrow. Let's hope the budget doesn't shrink in the next few years too much, it did seem pretty odd that AA left the way he did.

I think the problem is Stroman's own brand of philosophy. I dont think Pete Walker or anyone else is encouraging him. I remember people were fapping to this article when it first came out, http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/marcus-stroman-discovered-roy-halladays-sinker/

"Stroman started to use the sinker more often in his July 19 start against Texas, after finding a grip he was comfortable while fiddling around with a baseball at home."

“I have a sinker now, and it’s good,” Stroman said, proudly. “It’s a good pitch, and I get excited when I throw it. I get excited on the mound. It’s a pitch I started throwing like a month ago, and I’m already using it in games and having success with it.”

Marcus Stroman didn’t simply add a new pitch: he added, to his already broad repertoire, a pitch that compares well to a primary pitch thrown by a possible or probable Hall-of-Famer. And Stroman must’ve known immediately that he’d added something good.

Exactly I don't see the problem he is throwing a pitch that gets groundballs who cares

1-Waino 3.86

2-MPerez 4.42

3-Harvey 4.47

4-Stroman 4.75

5-Roark 4.76

6-Zimmermann 4.85

...maybe this is the new market inefficiency

What the hell is up with Matt Harvey?

Ideal pitcher:

Stroman is a guy who has the repertoire to pitch to contact and to strike guys out. For some reason he has chosen one or the other, rather than use both depending on the situation.

If the guy has a huge lead, I want him pitching to contact. If the score is close, let alone if there are many runners on, I thinnk he should go for the K rather than groundball.

If your favourite pitcher is in a 0-2 count and you want him to throw a pitch that puts the ball in play instead of striking the hitter out then I don't know what to say.

It's not about Shapiro, it's about logic.

I saw that happen several times tonight, and it was ridiculous.

Guys he isn't going to average 4.5K the entire year. The guy isn't dumb. He's experimenting with something. He obviously has the talent to switch it up to his old approach if this crashes and burns.

Jesus calm down

The same Stroman' s***. Weak contact everybody. Maybe we're missing something. Cyborg could help us.

Ok first Stroman isn't Halladay. We'll be damn lucky if hes ever that good. But even in his best years Halladay cranked it up and struck out 7-8 batters per nine.

True.

One does not have to eliminate the other. Syndergaard has the best GB/FB ratio in the MLB this year and look at his K/9.

People forget how good Roy Halladay was. People have short memory. Roy Halladay, over a span of 5 years averaged 6 WAR in the toughest division in baseball, and arguably the toughest hitting division in the history of baseball. That was when Redsox and Yankees had those monster lineups, As good as Kershaw has been over 5 years, Hallday was just as good and he wasn't pitching to the Padres and the Daimondhacks.

Those were Yankees and Redsox lineups that had 5-6 superstars, and the amount of hittting talent was greatly skewed into the AL East.

has he been throwing his change up more this year? I thought that was supposedly his worst pitch but yet he seems to be throwing it a lot.

Yep.
