In small defence of Thole, he plays once every five games and his one task is to catch the most difficult pitch in the world.

 

I don't care, this clown is making $800,000 this year. f*** that, such a waste of money for a dude that will catch 20 games max.

My point is that if we expect rust from guys who haven't hit for a while, we have to expect the same from a guy who gets fewer reps than other backup Cs in the league.

Really doesn't apply here. He should have caught every pitch Dickey has thrown since he cam up last year. Every one including bullpen, just random throws...all of them. He hasn't and that's most likely the problem. He plays 1 time every 5 games and only catches a knuckle ball. I haven't seen Bostons catchers have the problem with their guy like Thole has. Very similar knuckleball

It's every game. When was the last time he gave up less than 3 runs? Seems it's 5 runs on avg every game now
