jaysfan2014 Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 Jays keep their former top catching prospect, as expected. Nobody wanted him because of his injury concerns. It gives the Jays more time to groom him as Thole's replacement next year if he stays healthy and hits, and plays good defense:\

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 Actually do we know if Montero cleared waivers for us to option him? Not sure enough time has passed.
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 Also (and I should know this) if you try to re-option a player later in the same season who's been called up and you want to demote again... Does he have to clear waivers again or is he "optionable" all season?
jerb Verified Member Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 Actually do we know if Montero cleared waivers for us to option him? Not sure enough time has passed. Toronto Blue Jays Verified account @BlueJays Junior Lake and Jesus Montero have cleared waivers and are reassigned to @BuffaloBisons

Does he have to clear waivers again or is he "optionable" all season? When people need to clear waivers in order to be traded, they usually put them on waivers to see if they can clear before there's any actual trade discussion going on. This seems to imply that once you clear waivers once, you're good to go for the rest of the season.

Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 No, once you're out of options, they have to clear waivers, everytime. Incorrect. If you clear waivers once, you can be up and down as many times as needed during the season, PROVIDED you are kept on the 40 man roster. You need to pass through waivers every time you are removed from the 40 man roster.
vdubmvp Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 This didn't help his case Makes me laugh every single time.

I just sent you a PM

Slade Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2016 Posted April 7, 2016 Congratulations! You've just won the award for least thread worthy topic of the week. This should be it's own thread, people need to stop directing people to those giant mega threads. Those threads are dumb as f*** and stop focused discussions.
