Anyone bashing Jose should give their head a shake. This is a play that's been around baseball forever, no f***ing way should a play like that alter the outcome of a game.

This has nothing to do with the new sliding rule. Its just plain old interference and its being called this way for a couple of years. Jose should have known about the new standards for sliding are, this is 100% on him. Ofcourse its possible he didn't mean to stick his arm out.

Isn't the rule u have to make a legit slide...he slid over the base that's little league rules crap

You can only "take out" the defensive player if you're sliding straight into the base, that's not what Jose did. Most interference calls are made when the runner slides into a fielder who isn't close to the base, but this time Jose did with his hand instead of with his feet, it was still interference.

Pretty sure that was the call, it's not he Utley rule in place, I don't think you were ever able to reach out and trip someone to break up the DP

This is true. You were only allowed to use your legs and the trunk of your body. Reaching out with your arms was never allowed. This sucks.

So basically just go timidly into the bag while somehow staying a mile away from the fielder, just to be safe.

Um no... Just don't grab the fielder.

(d) Any batter or runner who has just been put out hinders or impedes any following play being made on a runner. Such runner shall be declared out for the interference of his teammate;

Rule 7.09(d) Comment: If the batter or a runner continues to advance after he has been put out, he shall not by that act alone be considered as confusing, hindering or impeding the fielders.

(e) If, in the judgment of the umpire, a base runner willfully and deliberately interferes with a batted ball or a fielder in the act of fielding a batted ball with the obvious intent to break up a double play, the ball is dead. The umpire shall call the runner out for interference and also call out the batter-runner because of the action of his teammate. In no event may bases be run or runs scored because of such action by a runner.

Can you review interference...I'm pretty for sure that's a judgement call and is not reviewable

So it's not review able cause it's a judgment call by the on field umpire?

yeah, hard slides are still allowed and legal, as long as you're sliding directly into the base and you don't over slide in an attempt to take out the fielder who is well behind the base

Seriously, that's a horrible call. The Utley rule has 3 criteria:

1. Have to slide early

2. Have to be well within reach of the bag

3. Can't slide past the bag

You're still allowed to get a piece of the infielder if you follow those 3 criteria.

If the fielder is near the base, he full out reached and grabbed him lol.. wasn't just a bump

This isn't the utley rule though he used his hands to interfere with the fielder, that was never a part of baseball.

The only player that will die before 40 in baseball is Pablo Sandoval

Ryan Freel says go f*** yourself. Seriously this ignorance by sports fans has to stop. Player safety has to be a higher priority
