I just hate giving one of our worst OBP guys the most at bats. I really hope Saunders continues and it all ends in a week.

Saunders may force his way in as much as Pillar forces his way out

Just remind Pillar that when he's hitting 9th he'll still score plenty of runs, if he gets on base enough

We're just moving you to our 2nd leadoff spot.

Couple things pulled off Fangraphs to that point:

The Quick Opinion: Pillar parlayed exemplary centerfield defense into 628 plate appearances and made the most of it as a sneaky-solid fantasy outfielder with a .278 average, 12 homers, and 25 stolen bases. He even notched 132 runs plus RBI -- three fewer than Gregory Polanco -- despite spending 88% of his time in the bottom third of the lineup. Polanco was in the first two spots for 87% of his PA.

BTS what should I do with all of these thanks?

Can you trade them for LOD wins this week?

I know it's Gibby's choice, we can't do anything about it as fans. But Pillar is just not a good leadoff buy.

I mainly look for 2 things from a my leadoff hitter:

1. OBP lol obviously

2. #Pitches per AB, which's very important in my eyes. It increase pitch count for opposing SP, and let the offense to have good look at his pitches evry early on.

It was a stupid post chasing internet likes from dumb people. There is nothing logically inconsistent about A) being of the opinion during the offseason that we should have a good 4th OF in case Saunders' knee causes him problems, and B) wanting him to hit above Pillar in the lineup now that he's healthy and has looked good offensively for a month now.

I am new here but I noticed a few posters here like that, more interested in forum brownie points then sensible discussion. Bizarre.

You just have to watch out for guys like NJH and King. Maybe use your IL if they get to be too much.

Once you grow up you'll learn that life is all about brownies, in one way or another.

NJH would sell his testicles for a few thanks.

"I'm not expecting anything from Saunders. This team has massive issues in LF." - BTS all offseason

"If Saunders keeps hitting, he should be leading off in a matter of weeks" - BTS after day 2 of the season

Yet, there you are, thanking NJH's post, attagirl MJ.

This s*** is going to last all season.

Pillar will hit like he normally does, Saunders will have a good year and Gibby won't want to "change things up because the guys are in a groove."

It's frustrating because when Travis comes back Pillar is probably our worst hitter depending on how you feel about the slop we put out there at 1B.

Yeah he's definitely the worst hitter in any lineup without Goins. Baserunning value might make him a slightly better offensive player than Smoak though.

Saunders won't bad leadoff. Gibby logic says that anyone likely to hit more than 15 home runs should never hit leadoff, because you don't want to hit solo home runs.

Key attributes of a Gibby leadoff hitter are:

1) Speed.

2) Batting average.

3) Lack of power.

4) Ability to take walks.

Happy Kevin Pillar BB day is today boys and girls.

He BBs 4% of his PAs, so in Game 6 we will become overdue for this rare event to occur.

So... The confidence boost and better pitches thrown to him by getting in front of big hitters hasn't caused his OBP skills to boost by 30+ points??? Shocker...

Yeah, he hasn't gotten all fastballs either. Maybe because they know they don't have to since he doesn't walk anyway?

I love how people fell for this lineup protection fallacy, as if simply hitting Pillar first would solve all his issues at the plate.

Pretty sure that was a minority opinion which is why I'm mocking it. Teams have too much advanced scouting information and stats to not know how to get guys out who have weaknesses. Every team's book surely says "free swinger and chases with 2 strikes". He has good plate coverage and puts the ball in play a lot, which avoids the strikeouts but he's still just a slightly less than average hitter. And we're giving him more.plate appearances than 6 or 7 guys who are clearly better. He should be hitting 9th.

He seemed to believe it and so did Gibbons. Goddamn idiots, the both of them.

I hope Kevy poo doesn't feel bad about putting his wants and needs ahead of his team's.
